Hello Lovelies.
Gotta do this quick, as Mother Nature is partying like it's 1999, or still 2020.
As I watched the continued destruction outdoors, with 100ft cottonwoods splintering and flinging pieces, broken crockery, and contemplating the chasing of furniture cushions, the power went out. I live in a normal little city with a quick response by the electric company. Got a text that the power would be restored in 3 or so hours.
That's okay if you don't open the fridge.
Not so much for an indoor grow that is entirely dependent on electricity to survive.
It's all fun and games till the lights go out.
And the exhaust and circulation fans turned off, and the humidity went through the roof, even though I am literally watching everything outdoors die of desiccation.
I'd watered good last night knowing we were going to get hit with super-low humidity today. Except the power went out before I got the garage open a crack.
It's a piece of cake until you need to start thinking for yourself.
If the power had been off another 30 minutes, I would have had to pull the emergency release on the door and get someone to help me prop it up manually. Thankfully the power came back on before I had to do that, and as soon as it did, I got the garage open an inch. As it was, I had to unzip all the tents so the humidity could vent.
The tents are in 18/6 veg right now, so also thankfully not trying to flower in this bizarre shit. If they were flowering, they'd be in trouble. A lot of trouble. If the tent is open, the smell of weed escapes. If it's closed, they could get the Powdery in a heartbeat.
Another day, another spin on the Slot Machine of Life. Choices and all that stuff...
Ah, there we go...another alarm going off in the grow area, whoohoo...
BRB
Yep. Cracked the garage as soon as the power came back and the humidity dipped dangerously low. Turned off the exhaust fan, not circulation fan, humidity back in red zone. Put exhaust fan back on at lowest setting. Made sure they all have water. Smoked some weed.
You still with me?
If you don't have a plan B, there is nothing anyone can do to save your grow, no matter how many questions you ask afterwards.
It's possible to expend Plans C, D and E as well.
You can't always get what you want. We'll see what happens. Hopefully I headed off whatever could be a problem down the road. I'll know down the road and that is how it works.
You need to read ahead in the class, so you can deal with a problem yourself instead of waiting for someone in this forum to solve it for you.
You need to watch your weather. Sometimes, no matter what you do, you are going to lose your crop.
You need to have the ability to make decisions without someone holding your hand, so you'll want to read the material.
I couldn't get on here to ask and I just knew what needed to be done...
Because I've memorized the most important parts of GWE.
Your garden is your responsibility. Indoors and out. If you don't know what you're doing in an emergent situation, you will have a problem. Sometimes even if you DO know what you're doing, shit happens.
If you got anything but ungerminated seeds going right now, you need to be responsible for what happens in your garden...even if it's conceding defeat and having to start over again.
