    Vegetative/Flowering

Need some clarification and help. How do I know when to change the lighting? When I change the lighting am I effectively changing it from vegetative to flowering? Or will I know when the vegetative state is over and the flowering begins? I’m kinda lost here.

One other question. NH has in some of the post if you have a male plant get rid of it. Am I literally getting rid of the entire plant or just the little ball sacks that grow in the joints. Any help would be much appreciated, hope everyone is well.

Your kind of leaving us guessing here...I have veg/bloom on whenever my lights are on. How big are your plants, what kind of light, autos, photos?, etc... And if you have a male plant in your tent, and you dont want all your other plants being pollinated by him...he has to go.

There are a couple things you need to understand that should help you get a better grasp of what's going on. I'm going to assume that you are very new to this so please don't think I'm talking down to you. First, there are 2 major types of plants that most people grow. One is a photo-period plant. That simply means that it is a plant that grows and matures according to how many hours of light it receives each day. Conceivably you could grow it indefinitely and it never flower as long as it gets more than 13 hours of light each day. So, if your plant is a photo and you are growing under lights you make the decision based on health and size when to change the number of hours of light it gets to trigger it into going to flower. The accepted magic number to achieve this "flip" is 12 hours light and 12 hours darkness. The second type of plant is what everyone refers to as an "Auto". Autos do not react to the number of hours of light and will flower solely according to it's age and this will vary greatly based on the type of strain. Autos have become very popular because of their typically short grow cycle. So, if your plant is a photo-period plant you can choose when you think your plant is as large and healthy enough to switch to flower. If your plant is an auto you don't have to do anything. In regard to your question about male plants, no amount of ball pinching will change a male into a female. Genetically male plants have a Y chromosome just like you and me and that just won't change. A male plant in your grow tent will inevitably pollinate any females there and you will end up with seed in your bud once they begin flower. I hope this made some sense to you and cleared up your questions.

crucialbunny by no means do I think you are talking down. Thank you so much for the help. Yes this did help and yes I am VERY NEW to growing as in my first plant! I’ve been following advice on watering and lights 18/6 schedule. Not very big yet but it’s been going for about 2 months now starting from germinating the seeds. I’m using Vipra Spectra 1000w LED. I do know it’s not an auto but not home right now. Thank you again for any and all help.
