    Help please

    Hi all!

New grower looking for help please.

As you can see on the picture below, my tap water has around 6,4ph (1), however after adding nutrients (green sensation + alga bloom), ph level drops down to around 4,3ph (2). Should I balance it by adding ph+?

I’m growing in pre-fertilized soil (Plagron Royal Mix). The plants are 1 month old now, and would love to boost them by adding extra nutrients.

    Thanks

Yes, you'll want to ad pH UP to increase the pH to the proper levels for your grow medium. It's normal for your pH to change after adding nutrients. In my case, we start off with a high pH out of the tap and the pH drops when I add my nutrients. Once I've added everything and let it settle, I check my pH with a meter (I suggest a quality meter over a budget one) and adjust as needed. For me, I go through a ton of pH DOWN. I only use pH UP if I make a mistake and bring my levels down too much. Best of luck!

Thanks for you quick resposponse! I’ve left the water mixed with nutrients in the cooler for the day (hope that’s ok), as temperatures are very high at the moment outside. After work I’ll buy a ph up, then I’ll balance it.

      1. Let me know please, if that’s ok, or should I make a new mix.

      2. How many drops/ml of ph+ you add per gallon/litre to increase the ph level by 1.0?

      Thanks

Check the pH again before you add pH up because it can change over night. I don't usually measure but it takes more pH up than it takes down to make a difference. Put a little in, mix and check. Repeat if necessary. That's how I usually do it if I have to change mine but I also have a digital meter so I'm not wasting strips.
