Should I be handwatering the riot plugs while i wait for the roots to drop from basket in water?.....Seedlings are 1 week old....They are White Widow X Auto Fems......Also should I cover the 6" basket with clay medium with a paper plate to help the root riot stay damp and not dry out....?....

hi guys! pretty sure the standard rules apply here. keep am damp not wet. once the roots touch the res water they just take off on their own. no top feed means hand watering. seen the paper plate thing too. supposed to help prevent light getting below and keep some of the moisture in the top of the pot. was thinking of doing this myself! good luck and good morning!

Thank You, have been watering by hand.....My first grow and the first 2planted I laid the tap root on clay in water.....the other 2 after thinking about...Learning Curve.....LOL....I took the plants in their peat pots and their tap roots were about 8" long at the time but I was able to lower the tap root threw an opening in the basket down into the res water, then filled with clay pellets....So here we go...I am going to cut out some paper plates and cover the tops of the basket......Good luck in your growing....This is really Cool...

hey ws. ive done 2 clones and on my first from seed all started with rapid rooters. my grow buddy told me to hand water till roots out of basket and into water. I kept rooter moist and would carefully water around the edge to keep any root growth out away from rooter moist and that was one of the few things that I had no problems with. my few grows have had great root development. good luck
