    HELP! EC and conversion help

    Hi gurus!

I am a first time grower for medicinal purposes as I suffer with neurological lyme disease. I'm struggling to understand EC readings. I deal with a crazy amount of mind fog every day and despite my best efforts at wrapping my head around the below I really need your help.

I recently picked up a PH/EC/TDS pen. I noticed everyone quotes EC as 1.5 or 1.2 etc. My pen reads conductivity in µS/cm and has a Selectable EC to TDS (ppm) conversion factor. Choice of either a 0.45 or 1.0 conversion factor.

Could anyone help me understand how to translate a 2640µS/cm EC reading on the pen so I can follow some of the grow schedules. Is that simply 2.6 EC?

Secondly could anyone explain what the conversion factor feature actually means?

This is the pen I am using https://www.hannainst.com/hi98129-ph-ec-tds-tester.html

    Thanks so much in advance!

I cant explain it but yes it means EC would be 2.6... lol I found this that may help. https://www.lenntech.com/calculators...tds_engels.htm

Thank you so much, that feels like a really silly question now!

No not silly at all! I had to look up to be sure and i found that page which makes things easy so you can refer to it if you need too in the future! PPM's and TDS and EC can get very confusing. Especially when you realized there are different PPM conversions. Thats why EC is more accurate as PPM is just an EC conversion based on a specific conversion rate which there are multiple of. I've done enough research in the past to know this but that is about the extent of my knowledge. We aren't born with this knowledge so dont feel like that was a stupid question!

ec can be measured in micro-siemens or milli-siemens, it's just a multiplier of 1000,
      1000 micro-siemens is equal to 1 milli-siemen.
ec/tds pens measure conductivity and then can use a conversion factor(either 500 or 700 ppm=1milli-siemens) for a ppm reading.
      WHAT???
      5x5 grow space
      900w of Vero's and F-strips
      4-17gal totes self-made UC system.

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys.

May I ask what the point of two different conversion factors is? As mentioned my pen has the option of 0.45 and 1.0. I just want to fully understand the equipment i am using.

        Thanks for any insight!
