    "T5"..

I for the first time germed 4 out of 5 White Widow Auto Fems....I had them in a humidity dome and after sprouting Green suggested to get rid of the dome and lower the light to reduce the stretch.... I lowered the light to about 1" away no heat really and the foiliage is just going crazy....Leaves have so much large and the have stopped like a red light , from stretching and stayed at the same hight....Cool....

T5s are excellent for vegging, because they are nice and bright and produce little heat. You have light one inch away? Keep a very close eye, they will grow right into the light fixture.

                Wouldn't a CFL...say 100W or 150W serve as well?

depends on size of plant, CLF lights are not as great and their is very low light from them. I would recommend 2-3 of those per 1.5 foot height/wideness, better off picking up a ballast from home depot and getting grow bulbs for it t-5 style)
