How late in the vegetative cycle can you bend or top a plant. I am currently about 7 weeks into the cycle.

Training and Topping

When plants are first coming up, I wait until the 3rd or 4th node and top there. I have also done low stress training which is bending the plants after the two new shoots have developed, then I tie those down. You can do this later, but you have to bend where the plant is still supple, so it just depends on your plants and how long they have been growing. Mine were done after approx. 2 weeks old. Here is my result to this plant.1 Photo

You could have started a while ago probably. Most people top just above the 4th node, whenever it gets there. You can start training as soon as you top them or whenever your branches are long enough to tie down. I tend to let mine grow a little bit after I top before I tie them down but it's really personal preference. I also use the quadlining technique, seems to get the same colas without having the recovery time of topping multiple times. It's cut my veg time by a lot, I have 3 ladies in flower at just over the 4 month mark that are at about 45" tall. Before they probably would have only been maybe 30-35" in the same timeframe. Pictures included are the tall ones in flower and some that I just recently did, maybe a week ago if that. Here's the link to a post on here that explains it in detail. I honestly don't think I'll go back to the other way. Hope this helps.

It depends on if your growing photoperiod plants or autos.. quadlining is my preferred training method and it pretty much requires atleast 4-5 growth nodes and I like to get to that point as fast as they can.. so the recovery is quick and they get bigger.. mcubed476 has a great set of journals on the matter hope this helps
