    Soil ph

I’m confused. I’m wanting to get my soil right before planting. So to get my soil ph to a 6.8 I have to ph my water to 3.5. Why? Am I going about this all wrong or what. I’ve already killed $100 worth of seedlings and don’t want a repeat

First.... what soil are you using? How are you germinating you seeds ? Are you transitioning seedlings from soak to papertowel to solo cups to pots?

Ok. For germination I soak for 24 hrs in bottled water and Hydroperoxide then place in peat pods. They break the surface in 4 days. When the root starts to show I trans plant into solo cups with peat moss and vermiculite. After two weeks the leaves start turning brown in the middle and dye.

As for soil when I get that far it’s organic garden soil ( no fertilizer) peat moss vermiculite and cow manure/mushroom compost

The seedlings are under a 300 watt led grow light( full spectrum) set at 17” from the top of the plant with a fan set on low level

If you are using a soil ph meter, get rid of it. They are not very accurate. Best way to check ph in the soil is measure PH of water going in, then measure the run off coming out.
4x4 600w HID empty for summer
3x3 400w HID with Bruce Banner and Skywalker Kush
2x2 65w Quantum Board LED with 4 mother strains
running all simultaneously for a perpetual harvests.

What is the ph going in and what is the run off ph coming out?
If going in is 3.5 and coming out is 6.8, your root zone ph is roughly around 9.5. Way too high.
You should contact the soil manufacturer and see what they suggest as well.

I would cut in pelleted sulfur to lower the PH.

Ok so to get to that question if your soil is at 6.8 which is within range for soil. Water and Nutrient normally. Which is half the recommended dose on the bottle to start. That's not something i read just word of mouth thing. It seem to work for me. I do ph my water is out of tap 6.9 after nute add 5.2 i bring up with fox farms up. In flower that is 4mL per 5 gal. And no problems. I do have a soil pH meter but only use it for base reference it helps some on watering cycles. Only some. So i think you are on the right path at least.

I’ve decided to get some aluminum sulfate to get soil ph under control before transplanting time. This way I will know for sure when I start feeding the ph is in the correct range and go from there
