When growing in coco I start in a small foam cup about half the size of a red Solo cup, but I start in soil and transplant the cup of soil into the coco. Done like this I don't have to feed for 2 or 3 weeks and the roots start healthy and have some stuff to eat without possible over feeding of nutes directly in coco. Don't forget to put some perlite into your coco atleast 20 percent of total volume.
Vegging 4 aurora indica, waiting on seeds. Got eyes on a 4x8x8 tent.
    sp150x2 philz330 and Philz 100x2
    4 plants currently under 500w
    2 x opulent systems 4x4x80 tents and a 24x40x48 baby box.
GH full line of nutes+calmag and my molasses sugar brown sugar liquid mix at 30ml per liter.
    Happy growing/consuming 🥴

Definitely a good idea to amend the coco with some perlite to aerate the mix.
You also need to remember to treat coco like hydroponics in that it doesn't hold any nutrients so the plant can only feed when there is a solution present.
Jordann suggestion of starting in a solo cup and transplanting will work best.
Coco is like a performance car-drive it responsibly and it'll go like hell.
And just like a performance car, it can go sideways just as quickly so pay attention.

I am also using Canna. Check out my post Drooping plant with light on but recovers when light off. Other plants appear great..

Also do you have the Canna grow guide. http://www.canna-uk.com/growguide. Change Terra to coco and choose feeding schedule

I start seeds folded inside a damp paper towel in a plastic chinese takeout container on a seedling mat. I then transfer the sprouts to a rooter plug surrounded by coco/perlite in a solo cup. The rooter plug provides just enough nutes until the seedling is ready for a real feed.

Here's the biggest Kola I have ever grown and no idea how it happened as its one of 3 that were all the same and the other 2 are good but nothing like it. I only used Canna A+B and Canna Bud Boost Accelerator and never went near full nutes. Between 1/2 to 3/4 nutes. Bud boost never above 25ml and never above 25ml Canna A+B per 10l which was max towards the end
