    Too much veg

I feel I have too much veg and my plants are almost at time to switch to flowering in the next week or so. My big plant is at almost 8.5" after 4 weeks and 2 days; my other two plants about an inch shorter
    Set Up:
    Grow tent 32” x 32” x 63”H
MARS Hydro 400w LED dual spectrum (veg only spectrum being used)
    Temp 20c -27c
    Humidity 35% - 60%, average 40% - 50%
Humbolt Seed Organisation - Amherst Sour Diesel
All seeds germinated and planted at same time
All 3 plants popped through surface on 23/03/2020.
All 3 pots Coco Coir with 2/1 mix with perlite.
    CANNA A + B nutes only

My light has been 40" away at times to get the plants to stretch but is now down to manufacturers specs between 26" to 28" away and the plants dont seem to stretch, feeding 20ml/10l nutes

Any ideas on what I should do to expose the over vegged bud sites. All help would be appreciated especially with grooming

I just want to be sure...are you saying your plants are too tall? or that they have too many leaves?

duckman I feel they have too many leaves. I am going to remove the leaves at the bottom of the plant that are sitting pretty much in the medium

ID:	397549 Same boat here. Everything I've read says to defoliate during flower. 5 weed in and the fan leaves are huge. These are for an outdoor grow so at least 2.5 months of veg to go. Already topped once. Only my 2nd grow so a little afraid of cutting to much during veg.

Bowhunterwoody I'm no expert by any means but there are different reasons to defoliate a plant. indoors or outdoors you want air to be able to circulate through the plant structure to prevent mold, etc. so you might remove leaves to allow air to flow. indoors especially (not usually outdoors) you might defoliate to remove leaves that are blocking potential bud sites 'cause if they don't get light they won't grow. you are quite right, though, in being cautious because as the saying goes you can always take more off but you can't put them back if you take too many. if defoliation is going to help you grow a healthier plant, don't hesitate. you might start by taking any fan leaves on the inside of the plant or on the bottom that aren't getting any light. those kind of leaves aren't doing anything besides taking resources away from the plant. sorry for the novel hope this helps, as always lots of info on GWE.

Thanks for the help. Just running out of room in the tent. Didn't expect this much growth before going outside.

Are your plants autos? If not, you should look into training techniques (topping and LST are your friends). Otherwise they look pretty good. I have been doing the quadlining technique for the last couple grows and it's been working great. I started off doing my manifolds by topping twice but now I only top once. My personal opinion is that you have the space that you can grow them at least another 8-12" before switching. These pictures may help you to see what I'm talking about. Some are just starting out (did them yesterday), and the bigger ones are on week 2 of flower. I defoliate in veg and flower, mostly clearing out the bigger leaves to get more light penetration. Personally I would top her (above the 4th node), leave the top 2 sets of nodes and clear out everything else underneath. Check this page out, may help https://www.growweedeasy.com/manifold

Is the plant an auto? If not, you can keep her in veg for months. Check out the tutorials above. Plants look good

No, they are photos. Bag seeds. Popped 6 last year, all female. They grew giant. Hoping for the same this year.

I wish I could grow outside. I tried once but our autumns are too short, gets cold too fast. Not to mention the grasshoppers around here that apparently like marijuana plants. May try an auto outside some time but I'd like to have a greenhouse first to keep the pests down. Grasshoppers seemed to be my only pest issue the one attempt I made to grow outside.
