Couldn’t be a light leak. Tent isn’t top notch, but it’s in my basement with the windows covered with cardboard and gorilla tape. It is completely dark down there when lights are off. Up to the point that I noticed the cal deficiency, my grow was going awesome. The only nutes I used were grow big in veg and big bloom for first 4 weeks of flower. After week 4 I started adding tiger bloom and sweet and dandy (recommended you me).
    Two things I did wrong:
-whenever I fed/watered, I always went light. I was worried about over watering. I had a 16oz water bottle with the top cut off and used that to dump 2 scoops in each pot. Plants were happy as could be. Never droopy. I came to learn that even if I pHed the mixture, there was still a buildup of salts from the nutes over the course of the grow. The fox farm tiger bloom tanked my pH though. My fault for being ignorant, but that stuff is straight acid. Combine that with the stingy watering and there’s my acid soil causing nute lock.
    - When I tested the soil and found the pH out of whack, I went into panic mode. I flushed the hell out of these things. It took so long to get the runoff to 6.5 that I would soak one plant in a bucket of water while I was flushing the other. It took me 5 hours! Not sure if the cold tap water could cause that problem, but each plant got soaked in cold water for a long time.
Next time around I will probably use different nutes or no nutes and just rock the soil. I veged the plants for about 3 or 4 weeks before switching to 12/12. The plants were only about 10” tall or so in 3 gal cloth pots. Stretched to 18-20” in flower. Pretty sure there was plenty of fertile soil in those to yield decent results. I was better off with underfed plants than these herms. I am getting over the self pity now and looking forward to the next grow🤓 I’m actually pretty stoked if these seeds turn out to work. I could shelf this strain and try another. Saves me from keeping clones all year long.

Yeah personally I like the ease of amended soil. I have been using it for about 8 or 9 months (I think) and it's been great. Never mixed nutrients for watering but I would imagine it's similar to hydro and that's really what I wanted to get away from. Mixing nutrients gets expensive when you have a lot of plants, most of my reason for easing off the hydro. I thought about doing mother plants and cutting clones every time but I decided this time to try my luck and hope I get a few seeds. Got a GG male I'm going to collect the pollen and crossbreed, that should be fun. Just hoping I don't over do it and end up with entire buds worth of seeds. Definitely more fun growing different strains every time though. I have been trying to rotate strains. I actually have 7 different strains flowering right now so I'm looking forward to that. Unfortunately I have no idea what the flowering times are because they were bag seed, I only know the strains. On some of them I wrote down whether they're sativa or indica, and what the THC % was. Figured that could come in handy later on when I'm deciding on what to grow.

7 different strains? That’s a handful! I would like to do more than one, but I need to get my experience with one strain. Too many variables for me. I can’t even get 1 strain to come out right. Hopefully you get the desired results. You are right, I’ll use the KISS (keep it simple stupid) method until I get a good crop.

So I’ve been doing a bit of internet research. I also just received my encyclopedia by Jorge Cervantes. There’s so much bro science on the web, it could be nonsense, but someone posted that plants thrown into flower “too soon” have a good chance of herming. Has anyone here experienced this or heard from a reliable source this is true?

One thing that has me concerned is the mother plant I used came from a plant in late flower, so technically that is a light schedule screw up by itself. It took forever for it to switch back to veg. Anybody take a clone from a plant later on in flower and have any issues?

Yeah it feels like a bit much at times, but usually it's only when I have to do some major work to them (trimming, transplanting, etc). For the most part it's just watering though, not too bad. Ladies I have in flower right now are the biggest girls I've had so far. Quadlined them and tied them down and that's about it but I still ended up with 8+ colas on pretty much all of them. Was the first time trying that technique but I think I'm going to stick with it. I did take clones off one of my hydro ladies in flower. They were just starting but it hasn't finished rooting yet so it still has little budlets on it. Can't wait cause they're huge. The biggest one is about 18" and already looks like a month old (maybe more) started from seed, and the smaller ones are still about 12" tall. Figure they will give me a good start once they root, shave off over a month on veg time. But they have to turn back first. This is my first time cloning in flower so I'm hoping it goes well. As far as whether it will cause them to herm easier, I have no idea.

Found some bananas today on one of the 6 I have left but it's going to stay in the tent. The last herm pollinated a couple of these plants already so I'm leaving this batch up to nature. They only have a month or so left anyways. In the third pic you can see the seeds piping and forming inside the bud. I will have seeds to add to my seed collection.
Vegging 4 aurora indica, waiting on seeds. Got eyes on a 4x8x8 tent.
            sp150x2 philz330 and Philz 100x2
            4 plants currently under 500w
            2 x opulent systems 4x4x80 tents and a 24x40x48 baby box.
GH full line of nutes+calmag and my molasses sugar brown sugar liquid mix at 30ml per liter.
            Happy growing/consuming 🥴

In case anyone is interested, I just finished my dry. I ended up with about 17.5 bagels. Weird stuff was happening so I pulled the plug at 10 weeks. Strain is an 8-9 week flower. Around week 7 it looked like foxtails were growing. I had buds with mostly brown hairs and new growth coming out of them. Found only 2 mature seeds so far, but I cut one in half while trimming. I’ve learned a lot from this grow and I still ended up with good smoke. All the clones I have are now outdoors except for 4, which just started flowering with a cheap LED experiment. I’m starting a new strain, grand daddy purp, for my indoor. Thanks for your feedback everyone!

Heck you made it to harvest and that looks like primo smoke to me. Congrats

Looks mighty fine. Good job. If this one turned out this well, well then imagine how good the next one will me. Looks like some good smoke.
