    SOIL POT for a POT

    Hi guys,

So I want my plant to grow around 2 feet tall - I'm growing Critical Jack Herer (not PPP as planned). Keeping this in mind how big should the pot be in terms of liters / gallons / dimensions.

I was going to go with a bigger pot but alot of websites online seem to say that 1/2 gallon is enough for a 2 foot plant.

What do you think? Thank you!

I've grown them that size in 1 gallon, 2 gallon and 3 gallon pots. I would suggest 2 or 3 gallon depending on how long you want to veg. If you want to veg longer than 6-8 weeks I would suggest 5 gallon or larger.
This is a real rough estimate for minimum pot size in my opinion. Going to the next size up would never hurt but I would try not to go smaller than these.
12/12 from seed or clone - 1 gallon
    3-4 week veg - 2 gallon
    4-6 week veg - 3 gallon
    6-8 week veg - 5 gallon
    8 week + veg - 7 gallon or more

Perfect answer here. Or on another note. Go with the biggest pot you can work with in your grow area.

    Thanks Jordann and FunkyButtLovin,

My plant can grow two feet high before getting too close to my lights so is restricting pot size a bad way to control height?

    I'm gowing in a 1 x 1.3 foot cabinet.

I'm growing Critical Jack Herer which is a Sativa dominant Hybrid - do you recommend flowering from seed or should I veg (and top) then flower?

You control the height on a photo by how long you veg as well as any training techniques.
Honestly, having only 2 feet of vertical space is a no-go in my experience. I don't even think a bonsai pot plant would fit.

Well I have around 40 inches but after accounting for lights and soil etc etc.. theres around 2 feet left for just the plant alone.

Also how would you control height on an auto?

Use Low Stress Training. Bend them over and tie them down.

I guess this would be after I top and it splits in two right? then I tie both offshoots down a little. (not two much because Im growing in 1 x 1!)

If you're going to top them, yes. You don't have to top them to LST though.
