    Hollow stems

I remember ppl talkin about hollow stems & if that was a sign of a male plant..... So where did we land on that?
I came across one 2wks ago- topped a new clone to find her hollow. Tossed it into the flower tent & it showed some stigmas at 10 days so I pulled her back to veg. Has anyone else had the chance to experiment?
The clone is still standin proud & tryin real hard to throw new growth but she ain't turned the corner yet. Idk if you can clone a hollow stem.....??

I cant prove it without killing plants, but all can have hollow stalks and stems. Certainly not a sign of a male. I never checked the cuttings to see if they were hollow,

Plants should not have hollow stems in my opinion ..that would cause different deficiencies ..what's the temps and rh in your grow room..high temps and low rh could be the cause .. COULD Be the cause.your stems should be solid on the inside.

I had it in my 40% Rh 75F tent for 2 days before I topped her. Idk what the dispensary or grower did

And having hollow stems would have nothing to do whether it's a male or female..

Increase Calcium and your hollow stems will be a thing of the past!

Yes, but its not likely to repair the current hollow stems- just allow the newer growth to develop whole.
Use more Calcium in the next grow - This is why you give Ca throughout the grow.

          Nice. Thanks.
I have no idea how she was raised- other than obviously far from the lights so she'd grow tall & sell quick. I feed the max suggested on the cal mag plus label. Should I start feeding the clone yet? It was in the water for a week & has been in the dirt for another. She dont need a dome at all & is tryin to grow but loosing her color quick

If it were me.. I'd treat the plant like it had a boran deficiency..then start adding the calcium and magnesium after that plant started showing signs of recovery..my two cents.

There's no recovery- she's beautiful. Just hollow lol.

If the stems were not hollow - then how do they circulate their water? Looking at any of my carcasses lying around and they all have hollow stems.

I've also have had some plants that grew fine with a hollow stems keeping in mind if the plant get what it needs in the proper conditions..but I did notice a drop in bud weight when I did have hollow stems.the buds were not as dense they just felt lighter.

Plus I'm not saying hollow stems are a bad thing..could even be in the genus of the plant..if your plants showing signs of deficiency that's a whole different topic.infact hollow stems are a trait some growers look for .

The clone looks like it needs nutes but it's still kinda young. The donor is huge & healthy, growing fine.

What media was the mother grown in..not that it makes a difference just people growing in dwc hunt down these strains due to the hollow stems allowing a faster and bigger growth rate and supplement with silica to strengthen the cell walls of their plants stock so it can support the weight of the plants growth..who knows weed pharma might be right maybe it could be cal mag?? Idk.

She came in a soil mix of sorts. I dont think it's strain related- I got 2 from the same place last yr & they had the normal -not SOLID of course but filled in stalks.

I was under the impression that marijuana plants had a hollow stem, has nothing to do with male or female plants, genetics.
