Hey Bootsy your grow is really looking great. Those buds will get going and fill in. Mine are about 3wks and look about the same as they did a wk ago LOL but they are just doing their thing soon they will start really fattening. We see the growth from our end more than you the poster does. You are doing great

So now i see what's going on.the buds are getting longer and filling out- this is cool. See that the Mint Chocolate Chip (on right) has outreached the Pineapple chunk so after the photos i took out the 3 inch box under it. This could be strain, but I also wonder if it's because the MCC is mainly under the LED. Flower photos are of two from each plant, with the ones with the white string being MCC. There may be no difference, but one bud from each plant is at the outer end so gets mainly one type of light, while the other is from center area where they are getting both types. This is my chance to find out. 2 weeks into flowering and i still have another maybe 10 inches i could raise lights - so I am hopeful i dont have to bend the stems any more. every time i do i get a bunch more little buds. they're everywhere now! Otherwise all looks good to me. Humidity is hard to keep over 30. will have to thin out again soon. I may need support above because of the tiny grow bags will be tippy, so am finally gonna get to use my spring loaded hangers or whatever they're called.
A happy Canuk. this grow will be using Flora Flex nutrients in coco/perlite. 9 plants in 3 by 3 tent and 8 plants in 2 by 4, in 1 or 2 gallon pots (whatevere is there). manual fertigation planned. veg till around 1 ft high. 2 by 4 tent light is Bloom Plus 2500 and 3 by 3 tent has Mar Hydro Ts3000, both of which seem awesome.

shit. photos will be upright next time. My buddy's recent harvest caused it. From looking this morning, I will be changing the bud followed on the PC under LED. there is another one that is prettier and further under LED.

Two days later, with lots of growth and lots of wondering how many and which leaves to remove. And - more progress photos for comparison. the buds are in same order, 1. Pineapple Chunk (PC) Main HPS, 2 MCC middle combined light - 3.Mint Chocolate Chip (MCC) middle combined light, 4 MCC outer LED. All looks good to me, except I see a tiny bit of burning on the very tips of leaves under the LED, that can be seen a little in the photo. It looks minor and i almost didnt notice it, so i am not worrying yet. my full flash photo of the canopy was blurry, so the one included is with the lights on. Note that bud #2 is a different one this time and from now on as it was easier to get at , and prettier. the canopy looks crowded, but i have defoliated pretty much every day. see side view for a full picture. This is quite entertaining! Since it is so cold here, keeping humidity up is a challenge i have given up on. Off for my breakfast beer. Enjoying second last week of leave, but it looks like I will have to work from home anyway. Cheers!

Hiya Bootsy your grow sure looks like you got things under control. Really nice but I won't not remove anymore leaf for now and let those buds enjoy getting fat everything is looking like they are happy. Cheers " clink"

hey. thank. i feel good about leaving the leaves. there are some big fan leave on each plqnt yellowing and dying, but they are all low down so it seems normal.

Well, quite a bit happens in two days. Photos were taken on day 19 of flowering. I haven't really inspected them yet, but there must be some differences . I noticed some dying leaves on a couple of colas on the MCC that can be seen somewhat in one of the photos. It seemed to be colas right in the middle of the main LED lighting - and having a really good look at dispersion, it doesn't have much coverage and real concentation in one area. No brand name, so I assume it was an inexpensive one (I bought used-cheap)., I assumed this was light burn under the LED (they were around 10-12 inches from the light). What gets me is that the most effect seemed to be halfway down the cola. SO- LED was raised 2 inches and HPS about 1 inch. See photo for the damage -- if anyone thinks other than light burn, i would love to hear as I am winging this from the resources available, not from experience. I must change the hanging arrangement of the LED to get it higher, assuming it/they will still grow more. The bud photos show lengthening and i think some filling out. the branches are wrapped around so much that they are already flopping, so the plant yoyos ( as i was just told they are called). Bigger fan leaves down low are gradually turning yellow but it seems well under control. i would guess losing one from each plant per couple days. I now am having issues keeping temperature during light below 78F, since it is warming up a lot outside. i have a fan that i will set on my thermostat to supply the cool air directly to the tent, which should do it. up to now, simply opening the window got the room cool enough. Shout out to some friends in this time of isolation- maybe we can swap some clones for summer grow?

Hi. i did see a potential issue as i was admiring the garden and puttering moving stems a bit. there are several colas with the tips turning bright white and dense. it can be seen somewhat in the second photo on the cola to the rear. i am assuming again that this is another type of light damage, and hoping that simply moving the lights up will do it. If anyone reads this and think it's something else, please let me know.

Next update. 24 days into flowering. There has been more growth, but definitely slowing down a lot. i still have some room with the HPS, but because i got light burn with the LED i actually raised it around 6 inches to the highest i can do. the burn really showed up minimally (leaf tips turning brown) awhile ago and i spotted it. however, I thought i could let it go and get immediate response when i raised the lights after a couple days. well - the damage must have been done and not yet showing (another lesson). you can see the leaves partway down the stem (is the whole thing a cola?) have really burnt, and above it are not bad, which is likely when i raised the lights. There are 5 or 6 colas that were close to the lights that have almost turned white with extremely tight vegetation as can be seen in the burn photo. Each of those were trained down as of a few days ago, but don't seem to have changed in getting wore or better. they were most under both lights - I wonder if they are still growing?
I added coloured indicators to the buds i am tracking. Now, #1 has the striped string, which is placed at the same location as the twisty tie on earlier photos - It is the Pineapple Chunk,. most to left mainly under the HPS. #2 is Pineapple Chunk to right front, with red ribbon, and is the combined LED/HPS . #3 is the Mint Chocolate Chip to left back, and it has the string not crossed (although it almost cannot be seen and will be adjusted later). $4 is the back right, mainly LED.
?Anyone know if that whitish growth at the top of those colas is something to be concerned about?

The whitish growth is something to be very happy about - those are pistils - and they will turn into buds - she slowing down to develop those buds.

Big fat white pistils like Canuck147 says. My OGkush has skinny ones but the Mango and GSC I have also flowering have big fat ones. Kinda interesting variance

that's a relief on the white buds. With so many, i wasnt too worried about the half dozen that might be gone. But - much better that it's ok. The colas are starting to get heavy too and when i touched em my finger got super sticky (and fragrant). My latest question - do i wait till they start to fall, or support them now? some of my branches, due to the training, have almost 2 feet of horizontal and move around a lot even from the fans, so they will have a lot of torque on them. i think within the next couple of days i'd better install some way of supporting the plant yo-yo's, which are cool little items. the browning from light has died off, so i wonder if i should drop the LED an inch or two, since i raised it so much at once Likely wont, as i dont want to fuck things up now. anything i have read indicates that from now on the girls will be more sensitive to problems. So far i have lucked out.

Question - when strains list flowering time, is that from switch to 12 12, or from when we see flowers?
It's now been 28 days since switch to 12 12. I have added some photos, but the changes since last session are subtle to see, at least for me. However, I do now see how the flowers progress, getting fatter and fuller, but seemingly now not growing higher. i have now used plant yoyos to support 4 branches, two in anticipation of them falling, and two after they dropped. I now know that the branches are pretty resilient and once picked back up they continue. The buds, although not a big visual change, are quite a bit heavier, ,which is cool. Is there anybody willing to guess on the end yield? i have zero personal experience, but guessing based on the existing buds just getting heavier, i say 2 oz per plant to give me 4 total. Will see in about a month. I still must work on my photography. Can see the strings or ribbons on each if you look closely.
I have a new Mars Hydro 300W panel. gives a much more even spread than the other one. I intend to drop it down to closest 13 inches tomorrow iaw mfr recomendations. I love touching the plants for the smell on my hand. must stop that.

          Hi Bootsy,
Photoperiod are usually from when you see flowers. My experience is that it takes a bit longer then what the breeders say.
Nice looking plants. Expect them to really pack on weight the last 2-3 weeks. You have a way to go yet by the look of the almost all white pistils.

        #23
it's been awhile since last posting. now 6 weeks since switch to 12 12. i dont think there's visually a big difference since last posting, but hopefully it's just that i am looking at them every couple of hours max. a few things happened since. there were quite a few fan leaves dying off, starting from the bottom. I thought it was normal, and maybe it was. However, some reading indicated that for coco grows, the watering should be fairly often. I was doing every 2 to three days depending on how the soil felt an inch down. i started watering every 1 1/2 days almost a week ago and since then almost no leaves dying. But - It Could also be that there are only a couple of big fan leaves left anyway.
I started yesterday adding a top solution of blackstrap molasses, with the idea that it will help filling out the flowers. the nutrient supplier suggested it would help.
The PC has what looks like the majority of it's pistils turned amber, but when i check with the microscope (as per photo), the trichomes are very clear. Looks like they are getting a good covering of tri-chomes so hopefully some potency. The Mint Chocolate Chip has almost all pistils still clear.
Several colas have needed support, and those yo-yo things are awesome. I now am recognizing the ones that are about to droop and supporting. it does look like i will run out of support so twisty ties will come in handy.
Daytime temperatures have been in mid-70's, and nighttime around 65 F.
My plant photography I think is getting better. Now gotta work a little on the microscope use. what a fun toy.
I have a pretty good breeze blowing on them so that they are swaying around. i read somewhere that the=at helps. If this is a bad thing and someone notices who knows, please comment.
Hopefully if all goes right, i will have some of this for my birthday.

          Hi Bootsy,
          Plants look great,
I am sure your comments on pistils turning amber was meant to be about trichomes. Pistils being the whitish hair-like projections that start to turn brown. Trichs start clear and turn amber.
          Pictures look real good too.

thanks folks. John - you are correct. Amber-brown I took as the same thing, but now looking at the tutorial, i see the difference. I will try to remember for next time. Pistil method (which is apparently the method used by the old time growers here) sure wouldn't work with the Pineapple Chunk.

Those colas that are white at the top really had me curious as i hadn't seen any photos like it yet. So, I tried the closeup mode of our normal camera and voila, I can see the individual petals! And then i spot it in the lighting tutorial - light bleaching. odd that the other buds around arent getting it too, but i did bend the affected ones back, and have moved the lights too, so maybe it cant be corrected. One shown (orangish) is under hps and other the led. Says might affect the potency, so i will be sure to keep them separate. Since there are only a couple of the small colas on each plant i will get direct experience and not lose much. All the bleached ones were too close to the HPS light

So - I now see why there are so many suggestions for patience in flowering. To me it looks like there is nothing going on and it is so tempting to chop. I believe all is going ok. Mint chocolate chip is still chugging away and all that's been happening is that i have had to support the largest colas. I now have a real good idea of how the colas fall over (they twist and slid sideways - if you havent seen it). Hardly any leaves yellowing at all and pistils still almost all whitish. Pineapple chunk, however, is now showing some yellowing (lighter colour of green) of the remaining fan leaves but seems to be concentrated low. She also has many pistils turned brown (almost from day 1 this existed), and it seems as if it's been producing pistils in waves. I will check trichomes on PC tonight, but since it's only been 7 weeks since switching to 12 12 I do not expect harvest ready yet. I added blackstrap molasses a couple of times, but right after that the water that sits in the trays from runoff (I was using it toadd to humidity) got pretty grungy. cleaned the trays and will hold off on that. Was having a little trouble keeping temperature down, but we have snow again and cold weather (shit - end of April!) so that's gone away. A friend of mine had to put his heating back in place. Hoping now that likely third week of May, and it is apparent that PC will be quite a bit earlier. DO the Buds still get bigger? or just add weight?

Pineapple chunk has now got the pistils pretty much brown and curled in. however, trichomes are still pretty clear so i assume it will be awhile. this is the third time this has happened so it seems as it this one grows its flowers in waves. the MCC keeps chugging vut keeps new pistils coming whole time. I will try to add a photo of pineapple chunk later today. I also think i am getting some foxtailing of a couple of colas, but it doesnt seems to come out in photos. Attached is a PC trichome photo, which isnt the best but does to me confirm that they are quite clear at this time.

All going fine, so now i am feeling insecure about harvesting time. March 10 switchover to 12 12 (8 weeks) and they started flowering soon after . Now. Mint Chocolate Chip is just chugging away and actually does look thicker in the buds. I see a couple of foxtails, but not worrying about it, and at the top of most colas there are constantly new light coloured pistils. Lower down, most all pitils still look light green and stick out. . The light bleaching on both plants really went away when the light got moved up, for future reference - it did respond. Pineapple Chunk - Looking at pistils, most are brown and turned in. however, it is at least the second time this has happened. This seems in contradiction with the trichome status. These photos are from a lower bud on PC. the trichomes, in my opinion, don't look cloudy much at all. if anyone looks and thinks otherwise, please pass it on. my opinion is only at this time based on photos on-line. I am ready with the clippers! Info on Mint Chocolate Chip says 60 days+-, and pineapple chunk is indicated as 58 days. Just sampling from some purchased Pineapple Chunk. It to me is a nice strain for awake, stupid enjoyment. Hence the wordiness again.

This is so typical with breeders Bootsy I for one go through it with new strains I try and not sure how long the flowering period truly will be. Like most more experienced growers will tell you those times are given under the most perfect of environments lots more controls or so they say.

If they are foxtailing mine is not yet but is 7 days past stated harvest time now. But I would raise the light or just give that plant extra week or so and keep checking it if it's more amber or cloudy you want. And yes I do harvest ripe top colas and allow lower branches to keep going. Yours do look cloudy to me, Good Luck

More photos from yesterday. I still am not seeing real cloudiness, but Paul and SoOrbudgal I appreciate your seeing cloudiness. I am watching PC daily now and do see some cloudiness in certain areas. MCC still has many pistils sticking out and pretty green so i haven't even looked at her trichomes yet. Maybe later today. Maybe a couple of weeks left? by then the bloom portion of the nutrient package will be gone, so I am looking for a short term substitute for the Bloom product in aniticipation of running out. . If you look at the photos, the first one is taken with a higher light setting on the microscope. time for breakfast beer and calm appreciation of summer coming.

thanks SoOrbudgal for the backup of what my bud Paul was saying about the cloudiness. I've been watching Pineapple Chunk more closely. There was an amazing change from even yesterday. Photos are of two different buds, and the microscope shot was from a bud about halfway down. Most all pistils are brown and curled, and the trichomes sure seem almost all cloudy to me. I was hoping for a little turning amber too, but am thinking it is maybe time to harvest in the next day or so. Maybe leave a few buds for later harvest. This is another new thing for me as I didnt get to take part in harvesting the first time. Switch to 12 12 was 10 March (8 weeks) and what I read says 8 to 9 weeks so I was expecting another week or so. Hmmmm!. Mint Chocolate Chip still has green pistils so she's chugging away.
