Hi, and welcome to the forum!
I'm not sure about anyone else but I use foxfarms soil for my grow.
I use both the happy frog and the ocean forest.
since I start my seeds in the soil(lost too many seeds to other methods and it's just easier for me) I use the happy frog, its rich in mycorrhizae for root development and not too much nutrients for young plants.
then when ready for transpltransplanting I mix the ocean forest with the happy frog, I throw in some extra perlite in the mix, you dont have to because it already comes with perlite mixed in I just use extra because I try to get my soil to dry out ever other day. Plus I dont water with runoff. To try to avoid any overwatering issues.
For the soil mix I use one gallon of happy frog for every two gallons of ocean forest, I just eyeball the perlite.
This method was able to keep my plants green up untill the 5th week of veg when I started giving them extra nutrients. They didn't look hungry up until then so I didn't think it was necessary to feed extra.
Just remember to keep your water ph between 6.3 - 6.8.
I also have the foxfarms trio nutrients and I just follow the instructions for soil.

Maybe re-think that super soil stuff... no need to mix and measure nutrients... just water and done... it’s a VERY convenient and easy crop. No worries about deficiencies... busy day, it’s only water. Tired, it’s only waterLast edited by Farmall; 03-14-2020, 08:09 PM.

Farmall2, living soil is the way to go, not hard to make your own either, or buy.
It don't get no easier,

You are sooooo right. I’ll never go back unless I’m just playing around with something. Always my first choice. I agree buying it is a touch pricey BUT, you’re not buying a trio of this, cal-mag that, silica something else.. Boosters, bloomers, etc... in the long run, it’s less expensive. And has several other benefits. You could sell it in Trader Joe’s or Wegmans supermarkets.... it organic 😆

I started with amended soil about 6-8 months ago (I think) and I love it. My personal opinion is if you're mixing additional nutrients anyway, just do hydro. Otherwise this is the way to go. Maybe it's just my laziness getting the best of me or maybe I feel like I was tending to them too much when they were all hydro. Who knows. Doing both right now and will probably continue doing just one huge girl in hydro to fill one 4x4 but the rest will stay in soil. I'll be doing a side by side taste test and comparing everything I'm able to without testing equipment as well. Should be interesting I think.

I use Happy Frog and Ocean forest, and they have produced excellent results for me. I use the fox farm trio of nutrients as well and some fox farm Beastie Bloomz and Bembe sweetener. Just don’t over water and your pants will do well. I grow in 3/5/7 gallon grow bags.4x4 flower tent

Fox Farms mix of Happy Frog and Ocean Forest for the base soil, used even from seed, and amended soil in the final pots. Like Farmall said, just water and done super easy. I've actually taken a plant all the way from seed to harvest in just my base soil mix and it turned out really good. Just thought I'd throw that in there.

SAE my choice is always living soil... I’ve done hydro, soil, coco and living soil... as I mentioned with living soil, water is all you need. Not buying $45.00 trio mix, $25.00 boosters, cal-mag, silica...then mixing, stirring, aerating. On days when I just feel like doing little, I can just water. I can’t see any other reason to do otherwise. There will come a day when I might want to go back to hydro but that was a bunch more effort. Kinda like a flower garden, as they start to grow, you just get to enjoy them and watch. I gave my Fox Farms bags to my wife to use for her indoor plants. Works well for them. I also use Fox Farms for my limes and lemons indoors since it was here. Actually have juvenile lemon fruit just starting under the 315LEC .
