Yes starramus that would be nice if we could figure out how to get strong roots in 4 days. When we are mass cloning we cut clones on monday and plant on sunday. That's the fastest we have been able to do regardless of what we used to clone them. -
Well for mass cloning this wouldn't be realistic. It's not how we did it at the nursery either- it takes too much attention to be cost or time efficient. & I didn't say they were 100% stable & rootbound in 4 days. If pulled & inspected some roots would be about 2 inches long while most are only a few centimeters.

Found yet another guide and this part relates to Dingus' feedback about importance of water in the bottom of the tray:
DAY 5
Keep vents on dome open and check to see if pellets are dry.
If the Rockwool or Peat Pellets are dry to the touch we will add half a liter (~2 cups) of water to the cloning tray itself which will fill the grooves in the bottom of the cloning tray.
Important: If you add water, add it to the cloning tray itself to fill in the grooves at the bottom of the tray. Do not add water to the tops of the pellets at this point, or roots will take longer to form!
The pellets will absorb the water from the bottom of the cloning tray. We want the roots to search for the moisture, and forcing them to move downwards to find water will force the plant to root more quickly.
Adding water over the top of stems now will make it take longer for clones to root. Do not add water to the tops of your pellets!
I think this may be a key mistake i was making (resoaking the rooter from top when it gets dry)

Alright ladies and gentlemen it's day 2 for mid to right. Sprayed dome only and filled base of tray with 350ppm 6.4 ph water right to the base of tray that the rooters sit in.
Starting to feel like it might work this time around!

Day 3 - with the heating pad on I'm getting in the dome temps around 31C with lights on. Too high?
Some plants were visibly wet (even though I'm not spraying plants directly anymore) so I opened vents.
Still wet after a couple more hours so I took lid off completely.
Planning to put lid back on once I see they're not visibly wet
Still no roots visible out bottom of any. Even the ones on left which must be well over a week now.
But having water in bottom seems to be the way to go. Keeps the bottoms nice and damp.

Just as an FYI to anyone following, all the clones on the left got extremely droopy and I thought they were dead after maybe 2-3 hours without a lid. Put lid back on after discovering and they're back to standing up.
Now the lid is on but vents are open to try and prevent visible moisture on the leaves and bacteria forming

They're not wilting, and they even look a little bigger than the first pic you shared.
Remember the root nubs are little, and covered by the rooter cube. The roots will have to grow long enough to protrude from the bottom, about a half inch.
It's taken me about 10-14 days to get roots sticking out of rooters. But they're vigorous.Nothing is foolproof for the sufficiently talented fool.Comment

Yup Iโm inpatient so I usually peek in the rock wool cubes to see if any roots are growing thatโs usually how I find out. I start spreading the bottom or the top where I insert the clone to look.Comment

Might have screwed these up. Got excited and moved them into some light nute coco in a solo cup not under dome. Two hours later they are droopy to the point of looking dead. Now I have them back in the dome lol
But at least I'm getting closer regardless. First time making roots ๐Up next:

Thatโs why I said some kelp meal. Helps her with stress and helps her get strong for her juvenile stages.Today Nebulas weekly email talks a bit about Kelp, only problem is she is recommending liquid kelp extract or powder. Itโs my understanding that by that point a lot of the benefits of kelp have been stripped out. There are good quality extracts make sure itโs cold pressed at the very least not sure about the powder though. Kelp meal is the ticket start by having it in your soil then top dress and water it in. Or 1 tablespoon per gallon of water of hydrated kelp meal and your good to go.Comment

Hey everyone thanks for checking in.
Just transplanted 4 from solo cups to 7 gal air pots under 80w lm301b this morning and took this pic just now! ๐ฅณ
At least another 6 in another area in solo cups
Couldn't have done this without everyone's help.
Only problem now is I didnt label which ones are gorilla zkittle and which ones are mokums tulip but time will tell
Looking back, I think the biggest mistake I was making was not having enough or any moisture in bottom of tray.Up next:
