    First grow, first post!

    Hey everyone,

I am new to the forum, but I am a big fan of the site and have learned most of what I know here.

I've been interested in growing for a number of years, but never really figured out a place I could realistically set it up. I found the Space Bucket design and loved it so I just built one!
With no real expectations and a hunger to learn and a zen enjoyment of the process, what could I lose?

I had some seeds saved from last year that I found in some weed I was given by a grower friend of mine, and I got one going without too much trouble.

After a week it had grown a bit but also has been drooping a bit. I tested the pH and it seems around 7.0 maybe just above, which I realize is too high.
Is correcting the pH likely to help this plant?

    Today:

After this was taken (today) I added a solution of 1 part vinegar 15 parts water to the soil.

    Any tips?

Welcome Max and thanks for sharing your grow with us Im also on my first grow here and learned most of what i know from GWE!! I would get that Ph down to 6.5 but not with vinegar as it will create a bad smell over time and bacteria to grow easier!

Now one main thing is i can't see any pictures in the post you have made....

I'm not sure about humidity or temps, I need to get a gauge. It's not too hot currently, the exhaust air feels cool and I can touch the bulbs after they've been on all day.

A few days ago I was experimenting and I added a bucket ring loaded with 5050 LED strips, and added it in the mix thus raising the main CFLs up a few inches. It was a bit hotter in there after that, and the drooping began not long after that, so I removed the ring. You can kinda see it in the photo below from two days ago. I originally figured the leaves were not drooping but angling differently to point at the LEDs

You think so? They are actually loosely woven peat moss pots, designed to be transplanted

I tried them, but did not like them, tried rapid root plugs once. I am now back to putting germinstead seed directly in final pot. Less stress than a transplant.

Did you cut the bottom out of the peat pot, so the roots can grow freely? You are right, the pH is high. Aim for 6. I've not seen anyone else here on forum mention using vinegar to lower pH.. Plant is at that age where sensitive to overwatering and underwatering. A few more sets of leaves and she won't be so sensitive.

I use peat pots exclusively and never had issues.

I used them on 6 plants. All six bound rather than penetrate.

If you use the peat pots I have found that planting top of pot below surface level will help roots to grow out of pot, because above ground the moisture will evaporate freely from pot sides making them less permeable. What I do now is just carefully remove pot before transplanting, so roots don't even know a disturbance.
Welcome Maxyboy! 🙋🌿 First time will be so much "fun"!! 😊

No I didn't cut the bottom out.
Yeah I read about vinegar being used to acidify soil and tried it because none of the garden stores around me have anything to lower pH. Is there a natural way to do it or should I head to amazon?

I put this inside for an hour and got these readings. I watered it afterwards and the humidity is now more like 45%

                    Hi Maxy

Your temps are on the line of being hot.. do you have an exhaust fan? The plants are drooping which is water and the high temp is bothering her . All fixable maybe the light is to close.
