Is it possible to get a meaningful increase in red spectrum light by using a red reflective material instead of the traditional white or silver during flowering. I know that the amount of light would be reduced because it only reflects one part of the visible spectrum. Would the decrease in reflected white light be offset by the increase in red light for flower production? Thank y'all for your time.

I’ve been reading up on this but don’t understand it fully yet... I you have the ambition, check it out. It will either screw you up or double your crop...ha
wikipedia
The Emerson effect is the increase in the rate of photosynthesis after chloroplasts are exposed to light of wavelength 680 nm (deep red spectrum) and more than 680 nm (far red spectrum). When simultaneously exposed to light of both wavelengths, the rate of photosynthesis is far higher than the sum of the red light and far red light photosynthesis rates. The effect was early evidence that two photosystems, processing different wavelengths, cooperate in photosynthesis.[1]

You will dim the area by making it reflect red. Less lumens for sure. Here is why... surfaces that appear red will absorb yellow, blue, green and violet light, while reflecting the red light.
So yes, lots of red..which doesn’t travel as far as the other remaining spectrum. Diminishing the remaining spectrum is not something a grower wants to do.4x4 600w HID empty for summer

I appreciate y'all taking your time to read and answer this.
Currently, there's lots of knowledge out there but no real data that I'm able to find.
Farmall, Experimentation is the only way we learn right? When I have space for more than two plants I'll have to play around with it some.
Thanks again to everyone!

Try looking up plants grown under absorption filters. Plenty of information already out there.
...or you can always run a light experiment for yourself.
