Hps + chep led. Thoughts and advice?

This is my second grow and my first post.
    I'm running a 2x4 tent with a 400w hps.
My first grow gave some nice buds direct under the Hps but the rest were just mediocre. I had 1 Nordic Jack and 2 Nordic kalashnikov at that time and they really filled out the space well. This time I'm going to flower clones in a sog.
I was thinking of add extra lights at the sides this time.
I was looking at this chep led from wish.

I know that the cheap led's don't deliver what they claim in the description. But as supplement lights they might work? Have anyone had any experience of this kind?

Adding extra lights as side lighting will not help- If you are using it to increase total light-then it will add to yields and heat.

Consider for a minute that a plant grown outside has an unlimited amount of sun light which rotates around the plant as the sun moves across the sky showering light on all parts of the plant!
The lower buds are still going to be much smaller due to the plants structure and hormones which control growth/yield.

At 400w you are providing 50w per square foot. The plant will use what it can and the rest of the energy becomes heat energy (wasted).

You have enough light and the use of a different reflector/bulb or grow techniques will address this much better.

I do not grow with hps, so will not make specific reflector/bulb recommendations and leave that to others in the forum who grow with hps.

It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

Hey Cbh420 welcome to the community.

Sounds like it may help for you to do a staged harvest (cut down most mature buds and let lower larf develop for another week or two) and/or look into different training techniques (e.g. LST and topping) which would alter the apical dominance -- turns the plant into a bush with more colas vs the traditional Christmas tree like shape.

Some may disagree and I'm new so take this all with a grain of salt but I think you will see more yield and average quality increase from doing things like training vs adding a supplemental light. Like Weed Pharma notes, you have enough watts per sq ft

This is the previous set up.
I fucked up with the scrog and made some noob mistakes. I did a lot of LST and a few branches grew bigger.
A staged harvest sounds like a good idea. Also I wasn't happy with my reflector.

I think your fixture is part of the problem, it's not distributing the light over the canopy very evenly. 400W in the space you have, is lots of light, look at the other limiting factors, temps, media, nutes, RH.
