    New lights

I'm looking for new lights. I'm wanting leds, cobbs, etc. Looking for 700 plus actual draw from the wall. Looking in the range of $ 1200 to $1500 per light.

Doubledealing72 I’m in the market as well, I’m leaning towards Autocobs from Cobshop.net. They fit my space, will cut my draw in 1/2, and I can’t argue with the results I’ve seen here
Failure is an opportunity for improvement!!

Hey Spidermite I ended up building 4x 240W Quantum Boards for about $1100 CDN all parts shipped to my door. They are really powerful and the built-in dimmer lets me adjust actual watts from 80-260. Really happy with them so far. Let me know if you want more info re: supplier, etc

and mine is actual 300W output. i found most of the growers prefer HSP, is that more efficient?

I use HPS/MH at 1000 watt with hydrolux bulbs. I also have a bunch of viperspectrum lights. I'm looking for something closer to what we use at the farm. The led's we have there reach as deep into the plant as the 1000 watt hps. And we start them at 48 inches above the plants and rarely have to move them.

Just so you realize the hps is inexpensive to start. But if your trying to maximize yield per watt used you end up replacing the bulbs alot. Look up the price of hydrolux bulbs and think about having to replace the bulbs every 6 months or so. Maybe a year but you will see the difference in yields at a year.

But the top of the line quantum boards. LEDs, etc etc can produce the same if not better results as hps. And some can hang over 4 to 5 feet above the plants. If your lighting a whole room and have 15 plus lights in there you can put them high enough they never need to be adjusted height wise really.

Look into Light Emitting Ceramic, we switched from our h.p.s. and m.h. setup and are getting fantastic enough results that we ordered 10 more 630 watt fixtures to go with the 12 we had.
They're less expensive, interchangeable bulbs so you can run full spectrum h.p.s. or m.h. bulbs as needed, they have a much smaller, lighter built in ballast AND cooling fan and they provide as much or more light than traditional fixtures.

That being said, go with what you like best but take a look at other options, you have a good budget from the looks, take your time and do it the way you like best.

          Have a great today.

Thanks. The budget is not an issue. If I could find better fixtures at 3k I'd buy them. But I've not seen results worth that price in any grow. If someone wants to argue that fact just message me.

I like my cmh 630 I was going back to my hps because I wasn't getting the bud size I would get with hps then I figured out my run on the light mover might be to long

Hey spider, I've been looking for everything to get started. I came across some lights that are out of my priced range but looked like really good stuff. I'm sure most of all these people know much better than I do but I wanted to share what I have, never know, maybe it's for you. Anyways here they are.

God brother, that's the truth. With me starting out I'm scanning everything. I read a lot of reviews on the g8 lights and everyone seems happy including the plants. I did read that if you go that way you should pick up there boosters that go with the lights. Anyways hope you smiled today, it's a good day spider, we are alive..

I started out with a G8 light with the red flower booster - was rated for 85,000 hours, which is about 10 years - 18 months later half the lights stopped working, so I bought a couple of Viparspectra 300 - few weeks later the other half of the lights stopped working, so it is back in the box - red light still works.

Thanks for that info Canuck147 . Did it not come with a warranty? That has to be very frustrating. But you know I love my viperspectrum lights. Just looking for a light that I can keep farther from the plants.

Damn Spider thats a problem we all wish we had no height restrictions ,I have 7 foot ceilings in the cellar ,I bought a light from a friend 800w cob led combo I will have to hang it at the very top of my tent so plants can grow to 3 feet

              #12
Canuck, for that kind of money I would be on the phone. The light seems to get really good reviews but first hand is always the best. I can't see how a 1100.00 light doesn't have a kick ass warranty, but sh!t happens. Sorry to hear you'd problems Canuck.

viperspectrum is what I'm going with, but it's only 150.00, for 1100.00 I bet you can get a nice Cob setup.

For the money I don't think you can beat viperspectrum lights. They will work perfectly for most home growers. I have many of them and have yet to have an issue with any of them.

Well it was only $329 - can't be bothered to pay for the shipping.
                It is a G8 240 LED

Hello everybody , I hope I by no means an expert in this stuff lights or growing. I bought a vipre spectra 600 light a 4x4 tent 4 inch fan carbon filter for 300 then sold the led light for 275.
Sold the light because I do not like the pink purple light on the tent and it hurt my eyes. Then bought a 1000watt hid mh and hps digital balist and 8 inch hood.

If I was to go back to the LED light I would buy this:

Fluence SPYDR Series was designed for single or multi-tier growers who want to optimize their grow space for the maximum crop yield.

I do not know how these lights claim same as 1000watt hid lights when the power draw is only 100 or 200 watts. I do know that led require less power and amps but you do still need power to make power.
Just my opinion which doesn't mean much 😂.
                  Have fun keep growing.
