    Got ya.

After all the reading I did on the autos it kinda made e think twice about any training. Wish I could find the article so I could proof my words. Basically said that with autos you don't get recovery time to it's a larger gamble when training. Made sense but I'm sure after a while everyone tries new stuff, that's how we grow and find new ways....✌️

If you have a fast growing auto you can do anything without slowing them down. But saying that they do not take well to mistakes at all.

I agree with ya, there is an article on that lol.

I sure proved them wrong, huh? Lol

I actually think that autos have come a long way from when they first came out (from what I read). So I think that's part of it, and also like you said, people start trying stuff to see what works.

All I have ever grown is autos and HST has definitely helped me to get where I'm at lol

Hey spider hope life is treating you well.

No Training at All – Since autos only stay in the vegetative stage for a few weeks, if you stress your plant too much with extensive training, it may end up stunted. A stunted auto-flowering plant produces very low yields. As a result, many growers recommend no training at all when it comes to auto-flowering marijuana strains, just to be safe. Untrained plants still produce a lot of bud! That's just one section of the article, it looks like it can be done but seems how veg is only a couple weeks, a mistake could cause a plant to easily be stunted causing low yield issues. I've not gotten yet so this is what I've read, so if you've and this info is wrong, I kindly apologize. From a beginners view it seems crazy to mess with a plant that's mainly designed for speed, but that's why I'm here, to learn. I believe me said he did or usually does hst on his autos, and his turned out great. Not claiming to know anything, just having conversation about what I've been reading. ✌️ Spider.

You are great. It's all good. If you ever get alot of time go through all 40 or so pages of the great auto showdown. In that thread every training method I know of is used. Some autos some photos and some massive plants and yields.

And yes its safest to leave autos alone. But if you do everything right you can get alot of weight with some training.

    Link to source info.

Is "topping" an auto-flowering strain ok? Does plant training increases yields? Auto-flowering cannabis strains actually respond very well to training as long as you do it right!

Doubledealing72 Right on. Hands down that beats any auto I've grown. I've had fast bids six shooter and Lemon ak get huge but 24 ounces makes you king of the room I believe. And I've seen lots of your pics so I know you could accomplish that. That is just so cool.

Just chiming in to add another voice in support of FastBuds. Their seeds have had a 100% germination rate for me, and they’ve all been ready within 80 days of sprouting.
That said, Dude, I did stunt mine (likely with training?) so they only produced around an ounce each. So there is some wisdom to being careful.

s62 I have to say in regards to yields, training, etc etc that I've been growing since I was born. Not always cannabis but grew up on 750 acres. My youth was spent in the garden with my Papaw who worked on farms till he died at 98 at his orchard. And I have alot more freedom, space, time, and money to try everything. Your plants looked great they were just a bit small. You will be producing much more bud every grow. Just keep learning as I do everyday and your golden.

Today is day 105 for the 6 Shooter. She's getting closer, but still not ready. I'm hoping I can get my seeds I ordered before she comes down so I can pick some of those to grow next. I guess i could just stop growing for a week or so until they get here if she's ready before then lol.

Anyway, she is looking crystally and her nugs are big and dense. Excited to see how she smokes!

        Have a great week everyone.

I may depends on how long I gone for. We have family in Ohio so may be able to make the extra trip. Been a long time since I've had time off. So may just drop by there too.

Today is day 112 for the 6 Shooter, and also harvest day. I kept a lot more trophy nugs than I normally do. Most of my stuff normally goes through the auto trimmer, but some of these buds looked too pretty to do that to. So from start to finish was about 3 hours worth of work.

6 Shooter was an awesome plant to grow. The only thing I would have changed was being able to train it more spread apart. Since I was on vacation during that crucial time, I was not able to do so. She still turned out great, and I'm guessing around 8-10 oz when she dries up.

Since my tent is officially plantless at the moment, it's the perfect place to set up the drying rack. Not sure what I want to grow next. I keep saying I'm going to grow a photo, but when the time comes to choose I always go back to autos lol.

Without further ado, the 6 Shooter

I believe I got mine from zen hydro. I dont really know the brand, but it's a bowl style, and cost about $100. In my opinion, they are well worth the time saved. Some people dont like them because they are kind of rough on the buds, or that they dont come out as nice and neat as hand trimming.

That plant would have taken over 8 hours to trim by myself, and I got it done in 3 including set up and clean up and a smoke break lol.

Finally got the 6 Shooter dried out and weighed up.

I had a heck of a time drying the buds that came from the Auto trimmer, and in the process I ended up over drying them a touch, but that's alright lol.

So let's take a look at the final numbers for this grow.

          GROW 9 SUMMARY:

3 Bears OG from Mephisto - 0g, ended up with Nanners (Both times I tried this plant I got Nanners. I attribute this to one of 2 things: HST, or possibly just bad seeds.)

Sweet Trainwreck from Sweet Seeds - Approximately 28g, or 1 oz. I think it was probably a little more than an oz, but I was on vacation when it was drying out, and my house sitter smoked some while I was gone. So erring on the side of caution, I'll go with 1 oz. Great smoke though!

Amnesia XXL from Dinafem - 308g, or 11 oz even. She was a beast! I was very happy with this plant, and it grew and tasted very similar to the last time I grew it. Hats off to you Dinafem for a solid genetic line.

Kush from Seedsman (I believe) - 215g, or 7.67 oz. If all Seedsmans seeds are like this, I would have no problem getting their genetics again. This was by far the prettiest plant of the grow with its extremely long red hairs and trichome encrusted buds.

6 Shooter by Fastbuds - 317g, or 11.32 oz. Well well well...this one surprised me! I was thinking around 8oz, but I'm more than happy with the extra 3 that came along with it lol. I did smoke one test nug when it was almost dry and was very pleased with the taste. That's 2 heavy yielders that I have grown from Fastbuds now (Gorilla Glue was the other), and I am very pleased with both of them.

Well, this grow didn't go as originally planned. Started with 3, pulled one, added 2. This grow started in July and because of the late additions ended about a week ago, just shy of 5 months. As always, I'm happy with all these numbers and grateful that I found this site to learn how to grow.

Total for Grow 9: 868g, or 31 oz.

Total electricity cost for grow 9: approximately $178

          Cost per oz: approximately $5.74

I took a poll recently about what strains to grow next. Since my seeds still havent even seemed to ship from seedsman yet (ordered November 26th), I cannot hold this next grow off until then. Which means I'll be doing mostly strains I've done in the past.

Check out grow 10 to find out what strains those are!

          Have a great day everyone!

I'll bet your seeds are on their way. I almost never receive shipping updates from them on time. I usually get my order the day before to day after they tell me they are shipped. When I get the shipped notification that means the package has made it through customs, reached a middle man in the USA, packages split up, repacked and have been mailed out from there. They don't mail your package direct from Europe to you to cut down on confiscations. If your seeds get confiscated, you can bet that probably 50 other people lost theirs too in the same load. Doing it this way is safer and gives you a higher chance of getting what you ordered but that means that they probably only ship to each country once a week or something like that. It usually takes about 21 days total to get them in hand when it is not holiday season. I would bet that as long as your order hasn't been canceled without notification (happened to me, I didn't figure it out for almost a month, go check the site under your account) that your package will arrive by the end of next week for sure. I know the blind, faithful waiting sucks but they will come through. Has your card been charged?

mcubed476 I'm sure you've answered this many times but why exclusively autos? I see the yields you're coming through with so there's that! I have the quadline thread bookmarked for reference purposes. And just spent all morning skimming all of the grow journals. Looking real hard at the Red Poison strain now.

JohnEmad - I use botanicare silica blast. It does help thicken the stems up. And thank you!

FunkyButtLovin - I'm not too worried about it. I was just hoping to get them before I start my next grow. I've had one package held at customs, and they sent me a replacement package pretty quickly. I'm very happy with seedsman and their customer service, I just wanted to grow some new strains lol.

They did charge my card as soon as I placed the order, so I'll just be here waiting lol.

OlderNOTwiser - I guess the main answer to that question is if it ain't broke, don't fix it lol. But also, with autos I don't have to worry about light leaks, and I can easily see some light holes through my tent. I suppose it wouldn't be hard to make the area light proof, but it's easier to not have to worry about it.

I also like that they grow faster than the average photo period plant. I've taken some autos down in as little as 60 days. But I've also had them take as long as 130.

I really do want to try a photo sometime, but every time I get ready to start a grow, I always find myself going back to autos.

Lucky for you Red Poison was one of the strains that the most people picked in my poll, so that will be growing shortly. I'm excited to try the quadline technique on it as I was unaware of it when I grew it the first time around.

          #58
I use True Silica Gold. I use it 2 to 3 times a week. It does help thicken the stems. This last grow was the first time I used it and I cant say it was the silica that made a difference but my yields were higher than ever before.

I would like to again start by saying your plants are beautiful and your methods show your talent.

          I had two questions though,
in one of your previous grows you grew a gorilla glue auto and if I’m correct your results were 1.5 pnds, would you do that again to confirm results? Im curious to know how much is due to your talent and how much is genetics..

my other question was, have you considered a hydroponic experiment to see if your methods work even better? I’m also curious to know your preference? I see mainly soil so I assume that’s your preference but wonder why.. been told hydro grows bigger/better/faster.. so just figured it would fit your methods.. but I find myself questioning a lot of the older methods more and more lol

Thanks Daskahn, I appreciate the kind words!

You are correct, I did get a Gorilla Glue auto that produced 1.5lbs. In that same grow, I had another Gorilla Glue auto from the same pack that grew really odd, and ended up being pulled.

I won't be growing that strain again for 2 reasons; I didnt care for the taste and I don't have anymore of those seeds lol.

I guarantee genetics, even going as far as that specific seed, had a lot to do with the crazy amount of yield I pulled. But I also know that certain genetics just grow bigger than others.

I've grown Sweet Trainwreck auto by sweet seeds many times throughout my short growing career of almost 3 years, and have never gotten more than 3 oz off of one of them. I have one going right now that will get around the same amount as every other one I've grown. Those are some stable genetics!

The best strains I have grown in terms of yield are Bubba Kush, Gorilla Glue, Six Shooter, Amnesia XXL, and Bubba Cheese.

I actually grow in Coco, not soil. Coco looks like dirt but grows like hydro. Hydro was the first method of growing I tried. I kept getting Root Rot no matter what I tried, so I ended up switching to coco that grow. I even transplanted the ones that were still alive from hydro to coco and had a successful first harvest.

All this being said, I do believe the quadline method does increase yield. I always like to keep an open mind, but I've been so happy with the results of my grows that I don't really want to change much.

Also, I only have a 3x3 tent, so as much as I would like to experiment with different things (mediums, techniques, lights), I just dont have the space to do so. And if I mess something up during a grow because I wanted to experiment, I might have to buy weed from someone *cringes*, and I havent done that in almost 3 years!

Ok good answers to the questions I’ve asked..
what would you recommend for high yield and good taste?
