Looking good and looking forward to hearing more. I have one Nirvana BM finishing week 3 of flower after a super long veg as well. She's a monster already, in SCROG, and only about 12-14" below my max height 315w LEC. Have you found much continued stretch and upward growth between weeks 4-7 with yours? Hoping to keep it around where it is as I think this is about the limit for space before I enter the light burn territory. I know the ideal for this light is another 4-6" (total 18").

Hi rangerjake. My experience with the untrained Blue Mystic (Plant C in this journal) suggests that they grow only slowly upwards during those weeks. The untrained plant may have put on an extra 2-3 inches after the main stretch. For me, given that the plant was already too close, that was still a problem, however, and I did get fairly significant light burn.

However, with the plants in SCROG, I have noticed a little less growth in that time maybe around 1", best guess?. Maybe it's due to having more growth tips to 'spread out' the available energy for growth compared to my untrained plants. Eg, my SCROG plants probably have around 12 actively growing colas, compared to ~4 on the untrained plant.

Super helpful information Eigholte. Mine being in SCROG there are lots of main cola growth tips. I trained it in a modified quadline and gave it a super long veg, so I'd say right now there are no fewer than 12-16 colas. We are at a manageable height- again about 7" at the least and 12-14" on most others below the lights. It seems a lot of the stretch has happened and the flowering is developed with only the fattening and density of the flowers to take place over the coming weeks. If this is the case I think I will be fine without too much light burn. Using the back of hand test I can hold my hand under the lights at 6" almost infinitely without the heat becoming an issue. So I am hopeful that I will just make it in the safe zone.

End of Week 8 Flower (A&B)

So, Plant C is curing in the jar. Still a little green and not done curing by any stretch, but that didn't stop the spouse from taking a sample today for QA during a Critical Role binge. The trim from Plant C became an extract, but I haven't quite finished the QA testing on that. Testing in currently in progress with an anticipated T-20 minutes to liftoff.

Plants A and B are doing well. I am seeing good frost on the buds. But I'm starting to see what looks like heat/light damage on the fan leaves directly under the LED on this grow. I am beginning to wonder if this strain likes it a little bit cooler in flowering. (Maybe it's better suited to a winter grow in my place?) So far, no signs of damage to the buds or sugar leaves. But I'll be watching this like a hawk. I have my LED up at max height right now, so there isn't room to adjust, really, but perhaps I can rig something.

End of Week 9 Flower (A&B)

The grow is trucking along. I am seeing some light-burn signs in the centre of the grow, which is strange. Maybe part of that may be overall temperatures in the tent, which have been 25-27C lately. This particular season hasn't been great for heat control, in particular.

However, I think these plants are likely to make it without suffering the same fate as plant C. I am seeing the first ambers forming on the Calyxes, which marks the start of my harvest window. Today I fed them pH'd water with just the CalMg, Sweet Candy and PK boost supplements in there, to start the last two weeks or so of flush. I may feed them a lighter feeding later this week before going to water only for the last full week.

The buds aren't as massive as the few, giant colas on Plant C, but they've got good density, and look very frosty. I am hopeful!

Looking good! I know Nirvana likes to profess that if you keep your nighttime temps in the 18-21c range during flower that you end up with that lavender hue coloring that makes the flower look pretty. Hard to tell in your photo, have you seen any of this? It sounds like your daytime temps are on the higher end (mine too, maybe even a little warmer than you- 27c), where are your dark temps? Mine are typically in that 18-21 window. No lavender yet (at week 5 of flower).

My nighttime temps have been higher than that, sadly. I seem to only be getting as low as 23c. I do think a second grow of this strain may be in order, likely in winter. At that point, my tents usually get 16c at night, and 23 during the day - maybe that would bring it out?

End of Week 10 Flower (A&B)

Sorry for being a little late, it was a crazy weekend. Like the rebel I am, I stayed up nearly all night playing WoW Classic with some friends. (*cough* Nerd!).

Anyhow, the plants are trucking along. The yellowing/early light burn got somewhat more significant, but I think I'm only 1, maybe 2 weeks TOPS from harvest. I'm seeing ~10% ambers, ish, and the trichromes are nice and plastic-y looking. Also, no signs of mold! Huzzah!

To answer rangerjake's question from last time, here's what the temp/RH have been running this week: Toasty, in my opinion, especially for flower.

And the buds are fattening up a little. I am also really enamored with the sparkling - much trichrome, such high?

Also, the Canna-caramel batch I made with my "miscellaneous" trim, ABV and some White Kush from my first grow is getting good reviews from friend - although a full candy seems to be able to induce colorful visuals, and seems to send even my more experienced friends into a couch-dive. I am thinking I should make another batch, "strain specific" this time from the Blue Mystic, just to see how that differs. Could be fun!

Thanks for remembering that temp/hyg info! I guess you are a little warm for the temps they say "should" produce the blue accents during flowering. While I was around those temps for the first couple weeks of flowering (72f-82f), for the past two weeks, and likely for the remainder of flowering (4 weeks) it is about 64f in the dark 75f in the light. Keeping my fingers crossed for those blue accents!

Sorry for letting this one go, guys. Life got INSANE on me in the last 2-3 months, and updating fell by the wayside in favor of other priorities.

The grow is finished and harvested now. The final yields were:

Plant C: 33g bud, 13g trim (Some loss of bud due to mold)
      Plant A: 39g bud, 15g trim
      Plant B: 39g bud, 15g trim

      Grow totals: 111g (3.9oz) bud and 43g (1.5oz) of dried, water-cured trim.

This plant isn't quite as THC heavy as my white kush grow, but it seems to hold its own. It's a bit of a blend between a head high and a nice way to relax - though it's not especially sedative.

Also, I threw a clone outdoors to see how it performs. We've had a few frosts at this point, so the clone is unlikely to finish flowering and it is looking a little rough. However, the photo shows some of the lavender hues that are mentioned by Nirvana if this strain is grown with cooler nights:

EDIT: Oh, and for all my purposeful attempts to get fem seeds, I didn't seem to have anything I pollinated take. HOWEVER! Plant C hermed on me late in the grow due to all the light stress - I found a well developed set of 'nanners at harvest time. In addition to that, I was sharing airflow between the tents... So, when harvesting plants A and B, I found about half a dozen seeds, all at the light-tan-coat stage of development.

So maybe I'll try germinating those someday, for fun, and seeing what happens with that unusual tri-whorl trait I found here in the second generation!
