Why do people change water weekly with 5 gallon DWC Hydro? I never do......

I don't understand why some people insist you have to change water weekly with 5 gallon DWC Hydro?

If one keeps the ph 5.5-6.5, keep the ppm's and nutes in a good range for veg & flower, keeps good temps and humidity, it's not really necessary to fully change out the water. For a 3-4 month grow, I don't see the need. Whether I am growing broccoli, cannabis, or anything else for that matter.

Do people get mold and fungus or something? What is the point of weekly water change?

unless you can track the concentration of specific nutrients in your solution topping up is going to become increasingly less accurate over time. Nutrients get used in different ratios and even though the res might have the correct overall ppm/tds the nutrients might not necessarily be in the correct ratios needed despite putting in the correct veg/flower mix

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I suspected that is the main reason. Because of that....I will probably change the water out fully say, once every 3-4 weeks.

just wondering, are you trying to save money on water/nutes, or are you just against water changes?

Ozbud, I'm not a hydro grower but that makes a lot of sense. Sort of like soil growers using just plain water in between feedings. Get things balanced out.
