Spidermite Hi. I've grown some Indicas that were supposed to be very strong, narcotic-type relaxation and sleep, and my conclusion is: it's when you harvest the plant that's going to determine if it's knock-out or not--not all the hype they write up to get you to buy this or that strain. For example, I grew Black Domina (which is supposed to be one of those strains), but I didn't wait for a significant amount of amber trichomes, which indicates that the THC is degrading into CBN which has the knock-out effect. It was a fine high, but not couch lock (which I didn't want).

Any Indica that you allow the triches to go pretty amber will be much more sedating than if you harvest with mostly milky trichomes.

I too have trouble sleeping. I'm finding that as I use a strain exclusively, it becomes less potent until I try a new one that feels "stronger". But lately, for the last many months or so, I don't think I feel as much of a difference between sativas and indicas, even when grown to darker amber.

My friend Bob once said something very unhappy to me: "By the time you own a bong, you probably don't get THAT stoned anymore". What may be a fruitless search for the magic strain may in fact be growing tolerance. Boooooo. He also says he no longer feels a difference between sativa and indica.

He also says that he doesn't feel a difference between THC and CBD, so I really don't know what to make of that. But he uses a metric ass-load of pot. He has a history of significant back injuries, and claims to go consume 12-15 POUNDS per year. He squishes it into rosin and vapes, pretty much exclusively.

Some strains are tolerance resistant, for example blueberry. Hell one can always recycle there vape weed into a little fire cracker.

Take any Indica, flower it until you have all amber trichomes and you will have knock you on your ass, couch lock weed.

I get it that one becomes accustomed to a strain leaving it less effective, or at least seemingly so. Thats why I like to keep several strains going.

Well let's not even get into how many strains I have laying around. I'm not even sure DAAS could guess that one. Lol But yes you do build a tolerance very fast. My brother in law says my families Gene's started out messed up so that we are born tolerant and having to use way to much.

The answer to insomnia is get up at 3:00 AM every day. Believe me you will fall asleep quickly in the evening.

I don't do Indicas, but grow them for the wife and maid. The maid is an LA woman who has been smoking for almost 40 years. My flower overcomes any tolerance she has built up over those many years.

I do grow Aurora Indica, Afghani, and Blueberry for the ladies. You might try the two latter. https://www.leafly.com/indica/afghani https://www.leafly.com/indica/blueberry

Spidermite I have great success with insomnia using a alcohol base tincture. Sometime I find that ingesting the same strain in a different way helps with tolerance issues.
I have been using a harlequin x otto1 and it knocks me out.

My Dr said "take 2 pain killers, 2 muscle relaxers and a glass of red wine, you'll sleep like a baby"
I ask "can I substitute a beer for the wine"
He said "yes but the wine is better for you"
                      Didn't work.

I grow some of my plants to max amber that I can get then if I really need to get knocked out, I make brownies with that.

A bit of a necro here but I'll say the only thing I have found that would allow me to sleep when I wouldn't turn off or get comfortable enough to doze off is take a pill or massive amounts of alcohol. A very weak dose of pills like 5mg Valium, 3mg Xanax or 25mg Seroquel* knocks me out, <10mg lortab and I'm throwing up & wanting to sleep it off. I am and always have been a super lightweight with pills, I hate them and don't even take aspirin or anything unless I'm in enough pain to teeter on the crying threshold. This, coupled with the fact that I was an alcoholic with a tiny bit of sense, I have always stayed away and my total pills of all sorts taken in life is probably around 200. Thanks to Mary, I take 0 per day and only ever take little pieces of flexeril or gabapentin (both seem to have more side effects than helping the issue) when I can't stand the back and nerve pain if I really aggravate the old injuries. I can deal with the usual day to day using nothing more than lots of doobies.

When I erected steel buildings and worked out on the road I used to drink 700ml (kept 50ml to get me by from end of work 'til we went to the store the next day) of whiskey and 6 beers after work every single night just to be able to sleep even after a hard 12-14 hour day. We'd be out 28-35 days at a time usually and then home for 5-14 days of milder drinking everyday before going back out and doing it again and again and again.

Man, I'm so glad I don't drink anymore although I still find myself thinking about it. I saw a couple of young men in uniform grabbing a 30 pack of Miller Lite yesterday and thought "they're probably going to have a great time hanging out and drinking that beer" and I thought about good times that I have had drinking and how that felt good but then all the bad things and lost or screwed up time with my kids and just really wish I had never started in the first place. HI thought about how it's too bad they can't pick up a 1/4 oz of their favorite kush and go laugh their ass off instead.

Things are getting better but we still have a long row to hoe before getting to the end where everyone can enjoy it without fear. I drank for 25 years and quit cold turkey less than a month after getting my mmj card and haven't had a taste of any form of alcohol since. I'm not sure I would have had the maturity and will power to quit many years ago but if I would have been able to grow and use this medicine more often throughout my entire life there's a good chance I probably would have quit and I'm positive that I would not have become so dependent on the alcohol if pot was more easily accessed and not illegal/taboo.

Sorry to go off, I wasn't expecting to lol. This plant really is amazing though, I was able to quit smoking cigarettes cold turkey as well by upping my mj intake to combat smoking habits and urges. When I had an overwhelming urge to light up I'd just sneak a toke or two and go on. I now have zero urge to smoke cigs and the alcohol cravings are no more than like the grocery store scene. I think about it for a minute and reminisce and move on, forgetting about it just as quickly. The downside (if you want to call it that) is that I smoke several grams per day now. The downside to that is in the fact that I have a stupid tolerance and anything more than a head change requires at least a 0.25 gram dab or a 2.5 gram joint of good flower to myself. I'm going to stop now before this gets WAY too long.

Acapulco gold grown to complete amber trichs. A soaring high for about an hour then almost impossible to stay awake but only lasts 2-3 hours then I wake.

My experience is high THC strains makes my PTSD go away and I can sleep without nightmares.
indica or sativa doesn’t really matter. As long you have a strain around the 25% in THC.
CBD helps me relax, but not sleep at all. I find the THC more reliable for a good sleep.
Just because people are over 50 doesn’t mean they know everything.
You can teach a old dog new tricks - But it will still think the old ways are the “best” lol

OGKush packs a nice punch. N. Lights & Bubblegum are each a nice change of pace to keep the tolerance level low. I'm watchin some Black Cherry Punch amber up & I'm thinkin it might just do the trick too.

BCP worked so well for us. But i'm just testing out these autos going as far past harvest as i dare. As long as the THC is high it works. I'm at 80days of flower for the lemon autos but they been outdoors so perhaps this slows down the ripening? Just waiting on alot of amber to show.
