amps of hps bulbs and inductive loads

hi everyone, would anyone be able to tell me what the amps of a 600w hps bulb?....also what it would be on start up,, the inductive load would be,,, im using a 600w lumii 600w HPS,,, and im in the UK so the voltage would be 240v,,, if that makes any differance to the amps,,,,

DrPhoton Hey there. Im no expert but I know watts=voltage x amps so watts/voltage=amps That’s 2.5amperes. For the rest of the question I think the doc can help you

2.5 amps is correct for a 600w ballast.
And with inductive loads... I believe you are asking about how many watts are being input vs what is going to be output.
If memory serves me correctly the real power the ballast puts out is about 600w while the reactive power (actual draw from the wall) is something like 630w.
      Hope that helps.

What problem are you experiencing specifically? On cycling, or blowing a breaker? Starting current is usually less than the normal operating current. Inductive reactance plays a part in true power calculations. XL =2 pi FL.
