Question about 'new' grow light setup

I'm planning to flower the remaining plants from my mystery crop after the first of the year. Given my tent's heat issues, I was thinking of setting my grow light up on some sort of support frame under my desk--I can't mount it to the underside--so they'd still have decent airflow. Heat from the light would ideally be vented so it goes back into the room (I used something similar to direct cold air from my AC unit into the tent over the summer...but this was cold air using a duct made of Coroplast, obviously I'd need something far more heat-resistant). Is this a viable method at all or should I go with the tent and assorted problems (mainly too-high humidity although this time of year that may correct itself)?

My desk is black laminate over particle board, the one thing I'm wary of is heat produced by the light on that type of surface. If needed I can use my tent's drip tray as a reflector. It would be on 12/12 with the light turning on at the time I usually get up anyway.
****tent (2x4) and large light (Relassy 300W LED) is in storage for now until I can solve some household electrical issues****

CoM Stonington Blend soil, distilled water; Liquid Squid amendment if needed, molasses for flowering

It occurs to me that you desk is too close to the ground. I tried a similar set up last year with a 400 watt HPS/MH light and throughout the grow I needed to raise the desk top and lights to get high enough off the plants to not burn them. Eventually, I added about 18" extra height and that was still inadequate. It was a less than successful grow - pitiful really.

Plus - the dark period needs to be completely dark so you would need to wrap the desk to keep out all ambient light during the dark phase.

Can't imagine, if you have a tent for an option, you would choose to grow under your desk.

On the subject of the laminated particle board desk top - you would need to make certain that the underside of the top is not taking the brunt of the heat. You would not likely melt the laminate but you could cause the top to warp. This bit, coming from Crow the furniture builder.

The other bit was from Crow the "what the hell do I know?" 2nd grow veteran. I replied because I tried your system and it didn't work very well.

    Good luck.

Ah, so much for that then. I was running into airflow/humidity issues with the tent, but this was flowering during an unusually hot summer. I can put the tent back up now, but will have to account for the fact that it's going to be close to the radiator.
