Howdy CatMomma, I have been using a Blueprint controller digital programmable light controller and have had very good service from it (going on four years with out any problems). I has two controlled outlets and handles up to 1725 watts / 15 amperes at 115 volts AC. I use it to run 440 watts of CFL lamps. It has a battery backup in case of power outages (keeps the programed settings) and has up to eight ON/OFF settings per 24 hour period. It does not hurt that it is very reasonably priced as well!Smoke weed,.....grow peace!

Lots of different experiences out there with manual and digital timers.
I've always used a simple Wallyworld dual outlet grounded 24hr timer. Stone ax simple and these types have been used for decades. Just make sure to stay with any timers rated current limits.
When you start to use some serious amount of current to power your grow a dedicated contactor is the correct way to switch- an irrigation timer is also rock solid.WHAT???
5x5 grow space
900w of Vero's and F-strips
