    led lights

hey everyone, anyone growing with l e d lights?, are they worth it and what do you think of them, cheers

    #2
    I grow exclusively with LED's.
Be mindful the watts they advertise is useless and you must look at the power draw, at the outlet to determine the size you need.

The price has come down on the lower wattage LED units- perfect for small (or stealth) grows- at a very low cost per gram cannabis produced.
It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

What is a good lower wattage led good for small grows? If you wouldn't mind pointing me out one. I've been saving to invest in led as well. I was thinking of going with the kind kl300 or something like that. It runs around 600-700 but I only grow small. So I kind of think it's overkill.

That really would depend on your tent size and what you are trying to accomplish.
by example, in the flower tent noted above- I have a 300w and a 200w <-- with settings, growth @67%, bloom @ 33%. This allows me to use the LED setting to help control heat. I choose to use a 4" fan/scrubber as it is quiet - rather that the 6" which would be too noisy for my room.

The veg tent and quarantine cabinet has 150w LED, and I add CFL/s for heat etc.

I get amazing dense quality buds.

So I am constrained by external factors of living in a old mill building condo, where every noise, vibration ,smell etc goes between floors and to each side.
If that were not the case- I would look @ LEC 315 for a single tent setup.

I use Advanced Platinum LEDs. I am very pleased with them. Mark- the owner ( has YouTube videos of them) can tell you what size for your area. Also less expensive than Kind.

Suggest you speak with mark. I had an initial idea of what I needed for my tent but he redirected me. Also mine came with hanging equipment and Mark told me how to reconfigure the hangers. I have to go hunt the pics down & will post them to you. or try the link to grow journal.

I have a 3 X 3 Gorilla tent and thought I was going to buy KindLED until I looked at G8. High Times winner for best LED light 2016 . I have a G8-240 with the 90 watt red flower booster. It's working great.

If you really want to work with LEDs- in all honestly- look at the COBS-

As an example above- they are using very specific LEDs with drivers and are really the cream of the crop. 50 watt LEDS- meaning 4 LEDS = 200 Watts and yes its powerful as hell. They are not purple- but white, and are the correct PAR etc etc etc. anyway if I had the money I would probably convert.

If Green pokes his head in he would recommend a 315 LEC for a superb 3x3 footprint. I would recommend same- if I had the extra cash (sort of in between jobs right now) I would have that in my tent in lieu of the 450W LED which is looking like shes doing awesome- however the LEC is just filthy. Dollar for dollar in a tent- if I had cash to burn- it set up 4 cobs in exactly the correct light position and call it a day. Colder months I might benefit from LEC with no exhaust so again, ymmv- depends on what cat you want to skin right?!
