Got a question. I am being told that i need to step my setup up. I was running a 400w light and did no LST at all. Since it was my first grow i just let them grow naturally. I was disappointed in my yeild of only 65g's of bud out of 8 plants. I have started a new round and they have been sprouted for 2 weeks and are growing there 3 set of leaves. I am going to cut them and do LST this time. The real question is am I better off staying with my current light and setup? Or do i spend the money and go all out with a 1000w light? Im am being told thats what i need to do by another grower i know. But there is a 3rd option, i can get another 400w light for like $20 from a friend. Should i spend the money? Or just $20 and run 2 400w lights? Or spend several hundred outfiting my grow room for a 1000w light? What would you all do? Thanks in advance.

Welcome, Hr250.
I'm assuming that your light is a 400w HPS fixture. Can you give us some details on the space you're growing in?
Training has a massive impact on yield so I'd suggest that you brush up on what's out there...just so happens that growweedeasy.com has plenty on great info.WHAT???
5x5 grow space
900w of Vero's and F-strips
4-17gal totes self-made UC system.

Yes it is a 400w HPS and i have two rooms one starting seedlings and veg. Its 4' wide x 5' 10" long x 7'6" tall. The flowering room is 8" long x 5'10" wide x 7'5" tall. I had all the plants together so i had room to walk around them in the flowering room but they grew straight due to no LST. But really do i need the 1000w? Or go with 2 400w lights?

A 400watt hps, will grow the piss out of some mj plants, those are good lights.
If I was you I'd get the other 400watt and learn how to train your plants well.
Are you growing autos or photos ?
Even if you dont train them, you should still be getting alot more than 65grams of bud from 6plants.
You might want to check your bulb-lamp out, it might be worn out.
A 1000watt hps, puts out lots of heat,

Agree with D.A.A.S.69. With that space 2 400watts would be great. But upgrading is always something to look into. Check out this article...if you were using one light for 8 plants that's where you went wrong. https://www.growweedeasy.com/how-man...-should-i-grow
