    Strain matters

Nearing my first harvest I have been reading and watching about when to harvest buds going by trichomes for what effects. As u know all milky is highest thc and more of a head high and the more Amber the less thc and more cbn becoming a chill effect. I have read and watched people swearing by the same thing, I’m not saying it’s not accurate, I know it is! But no body seems to be mentioning how much the strain effects this, like surely if u have a indica dominant strain (for example northern lights) the stain I am currently growing 95% indica and you harvest when, let’s say like 5% Amber and full milky (so stereo typically head high satuve effect) the effect is still going to be very chilling as it’s an almost all indica strain so it’s all about finding the balance.

Main thing I want to know is when I should harvest for my desired effect. I am growing northern lights autos, on the seed bank I got them it says 19% THC northern lights x Ruderalis 95% indica. Obviously going for NL I am wanting a chill effect however being autos and being fairly low thc and very high in CBD as it is (and being an auto) When should I harvest?! I don’t want no thc effect and head high, I want a nice balance. So when would be best to harvest for this strain

To give a bump and also to ask what is the earliest you can harvest small buds that will have an effect of any kind? I am thinking of cutting all the small buds low on the plant.
    Sour60 autos.
    3 gal grow bags 70/30 coco/perlite.
    26"x 44"x 78" tall grow area.
2 - 300 watt HyberGrow full spectrum LEDs (actual 105watts).

I don't know if this will help, hycheese, but the first "taste tests" I took of my white widows were predominantly clear to half-cloudy trichs. The buzz was mild to medium intensity, very racey, and short-lasting (30 minutes).

When talking about the harvest, the trichromes fill and get milky with that strains mixture of THC, CBD, etc. All the chemicals are white in color except CBN which has an amber tinge. That’s what we see the milky white THC and CBD plus all the other terpenes and chemicals that particular strain being made and deposited into the trichromes, then as the THC degrades into CBN they tinge amber.

So so if you want a stronger couch lock effect then wait till you see the CBN’s color of amber, if you want high THC, CBD, etc. you’ll have to harvest when most of the plant is white with a few turning amber (Like 1 or 2)
    Grow and good luck

If you are growing a mostly indica strain it will predominantly have the narcotic or couch lock effect, so if you want it more balanced-
-then harvest at the first sign of random ambers- after the trichomes are cloudy and begin to topple from their weight.

If it was a sativa, which will predominantly have a "head" effect, and you want it more balanced- then harvest at an amber percentage high enough to produce the narcotic (body) effect.

I will start water feeding at the first sign of amber- and harvest depending on strain and effect desired- as seeds mostly are hybrids.
It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!
