pH of water coming out of soil not the same as water going in.

After adding nutes to my water, I adjust the pH accordingly. Occasionally, I will test the runoff only to find that it is out of range to the water's pH going in. Should I be adjusting the water's Ph so that the pH of the runoff is within 5-6pH? I'm using General Hydroponics instructions for drain-to-waste in soil.

Don't be mad, Campesino, I just want to get other's thoughts on this issue.

You have a combination, not commonly seen, and not all that rare either. Before I hazard an opinion on your question, I would like to know if you consider this to be a hydro grow, or a soil grow?

what I have learned so far:
    environment maters more than nutrients
at least a dab of nutrients in every watering
effective flushing before harvest is critical to quality

You plants (in soil) will adjust the pH at the roots to whatever they need in spite of you!
All you need to do, is add nutrients/water with a pH close to 6.0 going in.
It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

Run off in soil should be between 6-7 ph. It's okay if it fluctuates. If it drops or raises significantly then it's a good sign that buffers in soil are off.
