    pH and Nute Water Tips

Ugh... So just when i think i have gotten the hang of adjusting pH of my nute water i begin having trouble....I just cant seem to get my nute water to the correct starting pH. I use pH UP & Down but cant seem to figure out the correct amount to add to get the ph where it needs to be. Hoping i can get some tips on how to make this easier. Ive had to redo my nute water like 3 times in the past 3 days in DWC. I feel like the pic added to this comment....

Get a dropper. Add a couple drops and measure, repeat until you get where you need all while counting the number of drops.

I do this. It seems like it's never consistent. How long should i let it sit after adding drops to let it dissipate?

I've never seen measurement differences after 60 seconds well mixed

Stir it up after adding drops.

    Hahahahaha

just temember nutes are acidic. They lower the PH. On the other hand. How much ph up or down you need to rise or lower 0.1 PH changes depending on the water mineral content and the amount of water. Hard water requires a lot of buffer. RO water needs very very little. Mix the nutes with your water first. Let it sit for a while and check PH. Then add the buffer ONE DROP AT A TIME mixing well after every drop and checking ph after a minute. After a few times you'll be able to predict the ph behavior. Never discard solutions. It can always be fixed

I have heard that you dont want to use ph up and down in the same solution. i get that it should change based on ppm/nute strength, but it just seems just when i feel like i can start predicting it laughs in my face and says NOPE!

I don't even own ph up. I do what joe says. If ph is too low I just add some tap water

Are you using a public water supply? I notice they change the pH (seasonally?).
I often check it before I add the usual dose of pH UP.
It's all bullshit - until you smoke it!

Yeah its my tap water. I filter it with Brita filter but looking into getting RO filter as i tested the impact of the Brita filter and it's not huge. The tap water here is good tho. only 130 ppm.

I just add some tap water to bring the ph back up , if I go too low. I check start ph , put in my biggest pull of ph down, recheck ph it's usually till a point or three off from 6.0 . so a few drops of ph dn and it's 6. I use tap water that's 7.5 starting and gh tRio nutes .
always nutes first, and a measuring dropper is a must if your making just a gallon .

A SYRINGE with ml increments is much better than droppers. (IMO) .Once you determine the pH of your water source and how many millileters it takes you to get to your desired pH ( I do 1 gal jugs) you can draw your ph..probably down consistently. My understanding is that you don't go up and down pH solution together. Start fresh if you blow it. Also I adore my Blue Lab pen...it solved mannnny problems for me. Not cheap but well worth it.

Blue lab pen? Why is it better? Does it require constant calibration like most pH testers?
