    Canna caps

Ok so I'm making some canna caps at the moment (doing a decarb atm)

now my slow cooker is way to big for a small batch (its a 6l ) will a rice cooker do it? Following the recipe on the main page

my rice cooker has a cook setting and a warm setting. I know heat is my enemy etc. But thinking of cooking on warm should keep it below 100c easy (ill be monitoring it)

I'm yet to find a cake or cookie recipe that I like. Not a big fan of the taste of cooked weed hence trying the caps (usually I do qwiso) but wanted to try something else

    thanks in anvance

My experience with taking the caps is that it can take any where from 20 minuets to an hour (some times longer) depending on what is already in Your stomach and when it was ingested.

Also coukd you decarb in a convection oven? I know you get loss in a normal oven due to the way it heats etc (and not sure I wana throw 200 plus at the nova decarb machine as yet)

RobM just fyi: there are coupons around that bring the price down to 180. The Nova was one of my best investments, but if you get good results with rice cooker, save the bucks!

I've been making canna caps for my pain management for a couple of years now. I also use a small rice cooker for the entire process. My recipe: 30g of flower and 250ml of coconut oil. I monitor temps with a IR temp gun and find that my cooker will max out at 260 degF on cook and maintain 180. I let the mixture steep/cycle for a couple of hours and then strain out the plant matter. I put this in 'OO' caps and a couple every 4-6 hours makes life manageable.
    WHAT???
    5x5 grow space
    900w of Vero's and F-strips
    4-17gal totes self-made UC system.

Thanks heaps. Yeah mine is about the same. Except mine is old and once it hit top temp switches to warm and sit about 50c. I'll see how it goes. Don't have the packing machine so manual fill it is this time (wanted to try in caps before ordering the thingo to pack thrm. )

Yeah, my cooker isn't that new-just a spring loaded latch/thermostat switch cycles from cook to warm. I've found that I don't need to do any additional decarbing because the slurry reaches over 250. I just use a 10cc medication syringe that my local pharmacy gave me to fill the caps with oil. I use a simple 24 capsule filling jig I got off of amazon/3bay-I tend to medicate and fill capsules, it's kinda like knitting I suppose. That batch is usually enough for a month supply for me.

Howdy RobM, I started making caps a bit differently than the usual way. I do not use any oils due to cholesterol problems. I dry the bud and/or trim, remove any seeds found, and then grind it up (in my small Ninja food chopper). I place the ground material in a foil pouch with the edges folded over to seal it and bake it at 220° F (104° C) for 2 1/2 hours. Let it cool down and place it into the caps, no waste and little work. All of the other methods all have 'left-over' material. The way that I make them only leaves the big stems and twigs. The caps work well for Me, the caps seem to last longer than smoking, I can take a couple in the morning and do not need any more until the mid afternoon. I use the size 0 caps (0.68 ml volume) which hold about the same amount the my one-hitter holds.
    Smoke weed,.....grow peace!

I have no idea if this is helpful, but I work in a dispensary and we make our own capsules. In order to get the dosage right, we use a spreadsheet that calculates dosage based on percentage of THC and CBD in the material used. I can certainly provide that spreadsheet if you're interested. You'd need to know what your percentages are - but you may be able to guesstimate them if you don't have a lab that can help test your material.

That being said we also don't use just flower in ours - we use Rick Simpson Oil that we have tested for potency and solvents. But let me know if you think that spreadsheet would be helpful!

I'm a bit late replying sorry. Im going to get some test4 kits to see what my % of thc is. The two strains i grow are ment to be high thc low cbd (ghost ship and bubbas gift)

A quadriplegic who I grow some for is finding the bubbas gift good for him. Stops his shakes after 2 cones.

Just about to harvest the ghost ship so going to try that on thursday (got to wait till the missus is at work for the day lol)

Yeah here in aussie we can't get lab tests done due to the laws. Stupid laws id also be interested in the spreadsheet if you can supply it (ive seen a few but unsure on their reliability)
