    adding PK

can anyone please help me on this, im using a DWC bubbler system, and i set my EC to 1.8,using A and B nutients, im going to add PK in week 5 of flower, ive been told that pk will raise the EC,does this mean that i should let the EC go higher than 1.8?? if so how much higher??..............Or should i set my EC to less than 1.8 using A and B nutrients and then bring the EC up to 1.8 using the PK?? if so how much less than 1.8 should i set the EC with A and B before adding PK???.........please help....thanks....

I set EC targets and work base nutrient amounts to achieve them. I do not think that you should just add it, because that increase in EC will burn the plants. You may be able to go higher than 1800, but be careful to do it gradually.
So, option B... set A and B less than 1.8 and then bring it up with PK boost.

ok cool mate thanks, just to make sure i understand your advice, option B set A and B to less than 1.8 and then bring it up with PK... is that to 1.8?? or slightly higher??

Well, what are your plants telling you? Any signs of tip burn?
What is the recommended EC or PPM range for your Nutrient line?
I wrote a guide for managing EC, It was originally written for Coco and EC values are lower in Coco, but it explains the theory behind EC and issues you face when EC is incorrect, and gives advice about how to set your target EC, all of which can apply to hydro grows as well.

So what I am saying is you should start by setting an EC target. Maybe it is 1.8, maybe it is higher or lower? The factors that would make you set a target are independent of your desire to add PK. The target shouldn't go up for that reason, but there are other factors to consider. Once you have a target then you mix nutes to achieve that target.

What nutrient line are you using and what is the pk of your base? The reason I ask is that some lines run A&B grow and then A&B bloom whereas other use A as grow and B as bloom. If your at 1.8 EC using only base bloom nutes without any additives and the plants are happy, I would suggest dialing it back to 1.2 EC and add your booster to bring it back to 1.8. If your using a combo of grow and bloom nutes I would scale back the grow nutes to make room for the booster. This can be tricky with some nutrient lines because they include the Micro nutrients in grow but not bloom.
Failure is an opportunity for improvement!!

thanks mate,, im using canna nutes, Aand B, grow for veg, and bloom for flower,.... so what you are advising is not to go over 1.8 when canna pk has been added??
