Want to make edible oil

I plan to make edible oil tomorrow. Any tips or suggestions? This is my first time. I will use GWE instructions.

I use refined coconut oil. I also used a digital temp gun when I cooked the bud and oil, to keep temp at 200 f. I cooked for 90 mins and stirred often. mine turned out great.

I say this every chance I get. Dab or full melt > vape any day. So say all my vaping friends including those employed by the vape industry. I am also a sub ohm vaper.

The guy who makes wax for me has disappeared. I have not heard of any explosions down in town. Not legal here so not sure what might have happened to him. Don't want to mess with the butane and other equipment myself. I used to also get great candy from him. I will make it myself now.

Alcohol process is safe and easy but I hear ya. If you change your tune there is plenty of help6to be had.

Edible oil - like coconut oil for brownies? And stuff to add oil to? Or to straight up eat...like a spoon of oil? Thats a huge amount of bud-

My recipe is after decarb, use approx 4-5 grams in a small mason jar, and add enough organic coconut oil to cover the bud. Give it a mix. Then it gets cooked in the oven SEALED for whatever- no longer than an hour needed- dont be stupid and cook longer- it doesnt do a thing. Once the decarbed weeds trichomes are attached/bonded to the oil- its over. cooking longer cant make it more potent.

This allows the mixture to slow cook long enough for everything to bond. I cook at like 245 for 45 minutes.. then strain and use. Or strain and keep sealed for later use.

I would not recommend sticking 2oz of bud in a mason jar and covering with oil and doing the same- because at low amounts im not worried about any sort of vacuum seal explosion of oil or whatever may or may not happen. Im pretty sure im in the safe zone. If I was to do 2 oz, I would do it in 8 jars 1/4 in each. this way also your not dealing with a large amount of hot or warm oil at once. If you dropped ONE of the 8 mason jars, boo hoo. If something happened to the big mix.... you're fucked.

Plus with 8 jars you can experiment a little. Some get more oil some less. Maybe cook 2 for an hour longer and pretend it makes a difference- or maybe it will - for all we know its subject to each person regardless. Damn with that project I would come up with some crazy stuff to make

ADDING: 275 for a 3 hours would work if you didnt decarb the weed. I have a friend that doesnt decarb prior to making oil. They swear by it and it does work. comes out great. hes in a place where he cant stink it up- so the mason jar actually contains the smell ( decarb cook or other )

Now I am not a fan of non-decarb method- but I will argue that sealing the jar, low herb, low oil will definately decarb the weed- containing the steam / vaporing at that temperature plus the cooking and bonding - gotta do something but better safe than sorry - for me- if preparing for ingestion via tongue stomach - then decarb prior to activate thc-a -> thc

I found the Rick Simpson Oil is too chlorophyll heavy and tastes nasty.

You should read up on QWET and QWISO as extraction methods.

Personally I like the QWISO as it results in far less chlorophyll.

you see - hes outdoors and STILL running an inline fan while working with this material.. Its more than highly volatile and quite honestly- only the highest level of kitchen skills are needed to pull this off.

Yea my idiot friend nearly blew himself up- scarred himself and took 2 weeks off of work from the blistering from the xplosion. ( all my opinion but comes with high warnings if you enjoy life )

My green dragon ttincture tastes nasty. I cant believe a person would willingly hold that under their tongue without something to cut it- (oj, ice tea, soda, anything works) However its highly potent- and is very dosable- and has some substance ( you can easily make several ounces and last weeks/ months )

So with tincture for example, you can add to coffee, ice cream, anything really- the people I know have been using Che'Michaels Canna Coffee in the morning and everyone is smiling.

I think so, something to do with bypassing the liver.

Smoked, vaped or sub-lingually ingested cannabis will mostly just hit the brain with delta-9-THC, where it has its fast onset effects but lasts for a shorter time.

Swallowed marijuana will make its way to the liver and be processed into the stronger 11-hydroxy-THC

Yes, I just heard from a talk by Michael Backed (who knows quite a bit about the way cannabis affects the body) that indeed you'll get different effects going sublinqual verses ingesting. The terpenes don't make it past the liver. And terpenes have a strong role on how your THC behaves (as well as CBD).

Dan many variations are out there on how to extract with alcohol. I have found it super simple and yet effective. After decarb I put the weed in a mason jar, cover with Everclear, shake and leave overnight shaking whenever I can. Then next day I use muslin bag over collecting bowl, empty contents into bag, squeeze as much out as possible. The liquid in bowl can then be used as tincture, but I like to leave it out in dark spot to let much of alcohol evaporate so the tincture is more potent. 😊 When ready, put tincture in small jars or go bold like Che Michael and add it to something to be ingested. 🌻
