    Never soaked seeds before

I never soaked my seeds before. I have always just poked them in the soil. I had a bad percentage sprout last time. I have been following this site and read about soaking seeds first. I put 8 regular photo Golden Tiger seeds in desert rain water to soak. 5 floated and 3 sank to bottom, six hours later 7 are floating and 1 at bottom. Is this a sign? Anyone no why? I plan to stick 4 in soil and paper towel 4.

The CropKingSeeds instructions are right on. I'm sure Nebula has good guidance too.

Hi, I had a much higher percentage of sprouting by soaking them overnight. They are supposed to float at the beginning, because there is some air bubble in the seed. After a few hours, the seedling understand it has to breach its shell, which is why I give them a little tap and they sink, just like the tutorials say.

It's not uncommon for some to start floating later only, but 6 hours later? That's a bit odd, they are supposed to float maybe half an hour later (no clue whatsoever why this happen though). Today if you give them a little tap they are all supposed to sink to the bottom. 10 hours later you're supposed to see a sprout coming out from most of them... I keep them 24 hours in the glass of water (desert rain water... Sounds amazing for the seedlings) sometimes even 32 (yeah I know they may drown. So far so good).

To increase even more my percentage of success, I had to use sowing soil. It's extremely airy and thin, like sand almost (difficulty absorbing water though). Less nutrients in it also, no risk of burning your seedling. It seems to have done the job. I still get a few fail (1 out of 5)

As you can see, there are about as many ways to germinate as there are growers. H2O2 is definitely optional.

Thanks for the info. They all eventually sank.
