The prognosis is not good but tomorrow i will move the cuttings into some sifted Malibu LOS and home made worm castings/ soil mix. I just can’t look at Kinky all cut to pieces anymore, it is too depressing. I hope I get at least one to root.

On the upside I have finished my final Permaculture design for Genesis Community Garden Bronx and graduated the first semester with an honorable mention. I am going to share my work here along with the other honorably mentioned students Permaculture Designs from all over the world.

My “Nom de plume” in this case is Bicycle Joe.

    Begin Quote
(“Hello all and thank you sooooo much for your participation in this class. It has been truly inspiring looking through your designs from all over the world and seeing all of the thoughtfulness so many of you have put into using permaculture for the betterment of your lives, your communities, and the Earth.

Many people are asking me about continuing access to the course and if they can have more time to complete the course. Although we cannot keep the course open past today, we do have all of the course content available as an "Introduction to Permaculture" downloadable ebook. This book contains all of the content and links from the course, but does not however give access to the design tools. I'm sorry if you would like more time with the design tools, but we will run this course again in the Spring of 2019 and you are welcome to take it again.

At this time we have just about 200 people who have earned their digital badges, which gives them access to a 10% discount on our online Permaculture Design Certificate Course. Congratulations to all those thus far who have completed every assignment in the course and earned their badge!

There were way too many amazing portfolios for me to highlight here. I'm really sorry if yours is missing from this list. It was just impossible for me to go through every single one, but this list represents some of those that I went through and wanted to share as examples of people who really put their hearts into their projects and came out with clear design concepts for their sites. Also I want you all to know that even after the course closes down, these portfolio sites will still be accessible so you can share and view them beyond the end of the course.

This week I released a new podcast episode that you may be interested in. I spoke with Dr. Paul Yeboah who is located in Ghana, West Africa, about his truly impactful work there. Here is a description of the episode and a link:

Episode 017 - Dr. Paul Yeboah: Region-wide Permaculture Economic Development

"This episode looks at the successful and ongoing story of the Ghana Permaculture Institute and their work in creating region-wide economic development using permaculture strategies. Dr. Paul Yeboah has not only restored the fertility and the water table of his 30 acre demonstration site, but he has created a processing system for a number of local crops to add value that is then returned to the farmers, improving their livelihoods and basic standard of living." “) end Quote

Well another agency is doing another random inspection this Friday. That’s 4 in 6 months.
I am resigned to accept facts, I can’t really control this environment. I’ve put them all in a closet with 4 48”T5’s.

On a more positive note I have three possibly viable kinkettes still hanging on and looking like they might make it here are the visuals nothing to brag about

I believe the Herbin farmer is using water straight out of the tap after he lets it sit now.
If you’re looking for an R/O that doesn’t impede water flow and is truly low waste, you’re looking at a $15,000 industrial R/O filtration system. Anything underneath your sink or under a thousand dollars flows so slowly you’ll have frustrations during watering time. Anyway, if you’re doing no till organic soil there’s really no need for R/O water. R/O water is usually used when mixing nutrient solutions because it has a ppm of 0. This makes it a perfect base to build the EXACT nutrient solution you need. (Primarily used in Hydroponic gardening). Now, you can hurt your microbiology watering with chlorinated tap water and we all know how important every single organism in an organic soil is to its biological makeup. So what I’d suggest is a higher flow bud booster water filter. It’s designed to remove fluoride, chloramine, chlorine, and the carcinogenic byproducts of these. It will also remove herbicides and pesticides.
by using a unique combination of treatments that include activated alumina for fluoride and arsenic reduction, high purity KDF, potent catalytic carbon, and finally a 1 micron coconut carbon block filter. They’re absolutely awesome and they don’t require as much ph balance to find your sweet spot. I’d say better than R/O for an organic soil grow... just my 2 cents

Hi thanks I'm responding to this three years later, I took your advice I had my water tested by the city for free and now I have a rain barrel sitting gassing off the water I never got a water filter.

ID:	211606 I found a straight R/O filter without the pressure of a storage tank which seems to be the component element that constricts the flow of water pressure. Surprisingly enough it is made by the Grow Boss Dude. ( A Man who’s style I despise but who’s knowledge I respect )

I found out since that my municipality does not use chloramines, I’ve had my water tested, it has zero lead. I’m using an 80 gallon barrel to store water and let the chlorine and fluorides evaporate.

Still much thanks for the information and I will take a closer look at the filter. Your water can’t be clean enough IMO

oldjarhead100 I am volunteering in the all city nursery once a week, the Bee Fellowship about the same. I’ve joined a new garden with a once a week commitment that I am in love with. Then everyday I am in Genesis Garden at home. Yesterday we built hugglekulture beds from 1000 lbs. of cabbage

Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	1.57 MB ID:	219125Click image for larger version Name: Views:	1 Size:	4.51 MB ID:	219126 This is the last kinky standing out of eight broken mainline branches that I tried to root. I am prepared now to say Bride Of Kinky lives!

Second picture is a Hugglekulture bed we made for the Genisis Garden to keep rain water runoff from the parking lot out of the garden.

come on kinky grow grow grow lol , I have one section of my garden set up with soaker hoses ,still have to do the second part so way behind the plants are in but no cardboard soaker hose and mulch hay. are you trying to block runoff water because it washes stuff away or is it harmful? I ask because I collect the rain from my drive way into those 200 gallon containers then water my garden with it . If I could I would do all that too sounds like a blast ,Now it seems my Garden is a full time job ,still a fun job but all I can manage so I will have to garden precariously though yours lol

Parking lots are worse off than a driveway. Potential for multiple vehicles leaking oil, transmission fluid, coolant, etc...
I'm guessing by comparison your driveway is clean.

Yes a full time job oldjarhead100 We are building the Hugglekulture mounds to prevent/divertthe parking lot run off. I use mushrooms like a Cannary in a coal mine along the border and the runoff turns them grey.
Right now our focus in the garden is bio remediation
