I grow autos in 3.5gal black plastic pots and water/feed to runoff daily aiming for around 20% runoff. Always with nutes - full GH line. Never just calmag on its own. Sometimes I may throw a plain pH adjusted watering in when changing from veg to transition mix and then from transition to bloom. I don't check EC of runoff so daily nutes may not be required but it gives me peace of mind that they've always good food if they want it. Regular runoff helps prevent salt buildup and EC within the coir skyrocketing

You could probably get away with every second day for the first week or two to help encourage the roots to spread looking for water and nutrients instead of being 'lazy' but I highly recommend daily waterings, at least give it a try. I don't even use perlite and haven't run into any problems yet.
