I don’t like the idea of the yo-hps never tried. If I need to move the plant...

I think the small cage like thing you were looking for are azailya cages ,my wife has a few of them . I ran a piece of twine back and forth above my plants and plant yoyo to hold up the buds

I’d like to try something similar to what Mr.furley did to his aurora indicas and a tomato cage at some point. I will try those at some point under the HPS but I think that might be one of those strains where topping and lst are better than a manifold.

Right that's why i was thinking of making my own 😉. I could always add rings and supports as I went just by clipping them together with twisty ties or tie wire.

Early I was thinking of training the colas to grow straight To the outside of the cage then let the go up. Changed that thought. I’d still be curious to try it st some point though.

Interesting the small support would probably work out. One thing you’ve got to watch for is when you want to put it in place. Too tall and your light will have to be too far away

Here you go. There's a few that look like good ideas for training cannabis lol.

One of the great things about this little hobby I’ve found is there’s always somewhere to improve something. I don’t thing any grow will ever be truly perfect. At some point you probably just stop trying to perfect it anymore. I hope I never get there, I think I’d miss out on half the fun.

Yeah, I used bamboo with soft ties to twist together and built little jungle gyms for them. I originally intended to just keep adding on to that, but when I mess with them it moves the whole plant around and tie downs get messed up. So I just leave them be.
I haven't had to support the tops yet on this grow. The colas are all supported up to about 30", but they are 48" tall! They also seem much more tree-like than my last grow (silica FTW), so hoping their support needs will not be as universal.

Chefbjy ramble away, but let’s call it brainstorming lol

I like to just tie the plant to itself. My side branches still aren't fighting for room though. Actually seems like my bottom canopy is ripening faster then the top. Suppercropping and lst all tied to itself with nugbuckets method are serving fine. I wouldn't change a thing. I like the idea of the tomato cages, never used them. Thinking taller ones would be a great idea though have double or triple rings to tie to. You can move the top ring if necessary to adjust for height.
Bamboo is good but with a wider ring to suit the top canopy on taller plants would be more ideal if you have the space. You could also angle the bamboo and just use the twisty ties to create a cage of sorts. Just throwing stuff out there I'm thinking of for my next grow anywho. I've also seen some cages that look like a mini scrog and been wondering how those would work. They are just like cages but have a scrog feature not sure if I'm describing it right lol. Can't seem to find any when I search for them but thinking of making my own. Some grow through trellis would give lots of control and support 😉. Sorry just rambling with my shop talk and ways to control those heavy nugs without much work.

Yea t didn’t serve much purpose towards the end, late veg is where I did the most with them. And during the stretch, they really were nice for pulling branches to open areas. I’ve hade some odd shaped branches on every plant that were ones I pulled a particular way to get them into open areas that I really kind of forgot about doing. I would play with them a bit and try to get them taller. Even 18” instead of the 14” I had mine at could add quite a bit of usefulness later in the grow. Might be just enough to help support that cola. Things to tinker with...

    Thanks!
Just consider that a rough draft!
I think I will use them for early training as you did. I built bamboo cages for the same purpose, but the silly plants grew right past those too. I think I have been too concerned about managing the end of the grow and feeling that the tomato cages would be inadequate, but their benefits early seem to justify them.

I liked them and will continue to use them. They served the most purpose in LST. They aren’t going to help hold up a cola at the end but you could use it still to pull them a direction which I did on the AI’s quite a bit. What I liked was the ability to keep spacing. Nugbuckets recommended of the 8 colas train 6 on the outside and two to go in, which is what I did. This kept good spacing with room for my side branch buds to not get blocked out in the middle in my opinion. This is one of the things I was going to cover in my final thoughts post lol
