SOIL Browing, curling, dying leaves near very top of flowering plants.

    Hey folks,

Im about 1-2 weeks away from harvest and I've noticed some browning, curling and seeming dying leaves at the very tops of my colas... Im growing in soil. The only real reason i can come up with right now is potential root rot... I did water these closer together than the normal 7-8 days apart due to the holiday travel schedule, so the root rot kinda makes some sense. The other reason i can come up with is maybe the roots are becoming bound. I chose a 5 gallon fabric pot instead of the suggested 7 gallon so this is a posibility. Unfortunately I'm unable to get photos uploaded at this time but ill keep working on that.

Some additional info that may be helpful: Most of the hairs around the very tops of my colas have turned orange, but further down the plant the buds still remain with mostly white hairs, so i know its not quite time for harvest. Is it possible to harvest parts on the plant and keep the other buds to let them mature a bit further??

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Thank you in advance!

Yes,u can harvest ripe buds and leave the rest to ripen in thier own time.it also sounds to me like the tops are to close to the lights?

Morning 420, what is your temperature in your tent ? You haven't changed your light have you.? What's your PH out ?
and yes you can harvest the buds that are ripe, and let the others continue to get larger and harvest them when they are ready.

Hey 420 - might not be root rot. Check the bud that has the dying leaves really close. Try to bend the bud in half so you can see inside the bud, any brown inside and you have bud rot. If this is the case, cut the offending bud off and trash it. I say this cuz it happened to me a few weeks ago.
If it is bud rot, and you try to save it, it will just spread. Only water when they need it.

these particular plants are plenty far enough away from the light, they are MAYBE 3 feet tall and my light is mounted at over 6 feet, s i doubt this is the issue. Ive also done several close inspections of the buds for bud rot as my tents to tend to fall to a lights-out temp of around 67 degrees or so. Air movement in the tent is excellent, which was why i initially kinda wrote off the bud rot, especially after i checked for it. Daytime temp in the tent rarely exceeds 80 degrees, especially this time of year. I haven't checked my pH out because i generally water JUST before runoff, and my water is always at 7.0 for watering.

Sounds like your doing a great job looking after them, but I would definitely check your run-off. That sounds like it might be the reason to me. Good Luck 420.

I agree with that. Usually most soil starts off at 7 already adding 7 water gives you a little high ph. MJ likes the 5.5 -6.5 range . Adding 6.0 water to 7.0 soil should give you that high mark of 6.5. for the runoffs average ph
