While gazing at my girls I noticed a dark spot I hadn't seen before, hard to pick up under the hps light. I don't think it's bad and I didn't see any others. They are about 10 days form harvest, do any of you think I should cut now, or just keep an eye on them?

Wow, man, if that's the only spot, you are doing good!!! They're indoor, right? Cut it out, amputate it, eradicate it, lower the humidity if you can, and keep watching. What do the triches look like?Anyone can grow schwag. If you want to grow top shelf bud, study hard: https://www.growweedeasy.com

Once I get ANY rot I remove the whole branch and harvest as soon as possible. Its amazing how fast it can spread. Also I mostly make tinctures so if I get any rot I filter the liquid to .2 microns. That removes any mold spores. Many places Ive read all of the plant should be tossed once rot is found on the plant but I dont necessarily agree .

Ive read it can be really bad for people with autoimmune issues and others with compromised health conditions. Even taking it internally can be horrendous as can smoking or vaping. You'd think stomach acids would kill the spores. But the rot "Botrytis" is amazingly hard to kill with no safe way to remove it from buds.

It was a cola and I cut the bud but not the branch. On Nov 8th will be 8 weeks of flower and I was pretty sure they will be ready. It just worried me because I don't know how fast it can move in 10 days. If one bud had rot I assume the spores are already spread?

Correct. I had a plant a year ago that got it on one bud. Temperature was high ( 80) and humidity a little high at 60-65 percent.I cut the whole branch off and was heading out on the road so no time to harvest the plant. When I came home three days later 1/3 of the plant had succumbed.

Those are lovely ! If I were you id be so tempted to wait as it looks like they only need another week or so to completely mature( maybe week and a half). But then Id torture myself wondering if its worth the chance. You gotta make the decision, lol. Keep us informed.

You could take half of the larger buds that are closer to harvest . That would net you some for sure and open up the canopy so you get better airflow and less chance of more rot. Just a thought. Just remember to watch closely during drying. They can still get bud rot during drying and curing.

hey Joker I live in Ma and we lost half of out outdoor grow to rot, by the time we were finished we notices a couple of thing first when you see rot cut below the rot, and before we saw rot we would see a discoloration on the stem, once you see the bad stem the whole thing will be gone in about 3 days, so I would say cut that bud out and look closely at your other plant stems and take them if you see discoloration. I do believe that it stops growing once its cut (at least all the buds we cut off did not get worse after we cut them. I plan on making dry ice hash from all the bud rot materialnew grow room built summer of 2017 ,argo max tent for veging ,big kahuna reflector, 1000hps with added leds for the full spectrum . 15th indoor grow ,5 years outside gorilla grows(stealth is the key),veg under t5s growing autos under 300w leds

Thanks OJH, since they were so close I took another look at the trics and decided to cut now. It's funny you mentioned the stem because while trimming I saw that the stem had a bad spot about 2 inches long, I didn't know to look for that before.
My outdoor plants also got hit with rot, I have heard another outdoor grower say that out of a 15 pound harvest this year he lost about 4 pound to rot.

You cant unless you get it into liquid and filter it. Smoking does not burn up the spores like youd think it would. But many people are not as susceptible to problems that Botrytis mold can cause. Ive read about hairy stuff though, of Cysts forming in the lungs and needing to be surgically removed. Dangerous stuff.
