    Seedling Case

    Hello Growers!

So It is my 3rd grow with 2 lovely strains (jack herer and Blueberry)

Today is a day 7 since they popped up from soil. First 2-3 days they grew rapidly, then for 2 days they stopped growing (I think they were developing roots, or maybe it was temp. issue which I fixed)
Anyway 2 days ago they continue to grow rapidly ( I also started adding very little amount of GH flora trio nutrients).

Everything going well except of few details:

    1. Today when I was watering them I noticed little root out of solo cup (only on Blueberry) However the plant is still small, so is it good Idea to move her to bigger container? (See Pics Below)

    How the plant looks:

    The root

    2. Yesterday I noticed this strange very thin stem, (On jack herer) First I thought that she was damaged during germination and wont continue to grow, However she is growing without any strange problem, except of 2 little leaves which stayed into vertical position. (See pics below). Only thing that came in my mind was that I covered thin stem with soil.

    thin stem:

    Vertical leaves:

    How I covered with soil:

Would be glad to hear your opinions about this case!

    Thanks in advance

Morning Zaxar, what kind of soil are you using??
What is all that white stuff in your cups?
Seedlings don't use very much water, I always just water in a little circle around the seedling, giving them not much more than 2or 3 tablespoons of water at a time, and no nutrients till they are 3 or 4 weeks old.
Most folks transplant out of their cups to larger pots when the leaves are even with the edges of their cups.
That one seedling with the ver.leaves looks like it's stretching toward the light to me. Have you got some holes in the bottom of your cups.
Cfls for a week or two
    315lec for everything else
Dug up Ms.topsoil, with perlite added
    36x36x63 inch tent.
6inch - exaust - intake fans an scrubber
    Smart pots
    Molasses
    Autoflowers

Zaxar good morning I hate to say this and I hope I'm wrong but I think you may have watered her to much and she is damping off ,(and she may not survive) your dirt looks a little wet when did you water ,watering seedlings is harder than plants I think , I only give mine a couple of teaspoon at first then table spoons I only wet the root riot a little, once the roots come out of the cup I transplant to its forever home, and I still only give it what it can use in 3 days which is not alot ,what kind of soil are you using , I just went back and read your post again those two little leaves are the coyotion (not spelled right)leaves they are there to feed the seedling while she grows true leafs . let them fall off on there own.

        Thanks for you replies!

First of all I want to say that Im using standart forest soil (Bought at local garden store) plus perlite.
Also when I first watered them, it took about 3 days for soil to dry. (Im sure that it was temp. issue cause in box there was only 2 cfl bulbs turned on which did not generated enough heat)
As soon as I tuned other cfl lights (but moved them far away from plants) temp raised and soil started to dry out.

Both solo cups got a lot of holes on the bottom. In my opinion the first mistake I made was low temperature, 3 days in wet soil for seedling roots is too much I think.
However Im not loosing hope cause right now both of them look healthy and continue to grow rapidly. I made pics right after I watered them. Thats why they look so wet.
after temp. was fixed the soil in solo cups need about 1 day to dry out.

Anyway what is the best solution at this moment?

Use very little water is what I would say, just look at their size ,they are still very small, wait till the soil is dry, then just give them not much more than several tablespoons of water, then a little later after they have grown a good bit ,then water as normal.
I'm sure glad they are still growing for you, good luck Zaxar.
ps- young seedlings use very little water.

hey Zaxar glad to hear they are still growing ,I would transplant them into there forever homes, Im posting a couple of Pics one shows the root riot cube with roots coming out of it, I like to transplant when this much root is coming out,the second is one after planting I buried it deep so as it grows I can add more soil to it ,also when i was finished planting I gave each plant one shot glass full of water around the outside edge of the root riot cube

Best solution is to stop drowning them. Transplant them and wait until they get over the shock of being transplanted before you water. Then they are going to slow down in the growing as they need to fill up their new home with roots. Just don't drown them.
