My first grow (Gen 1), 6, somewhat over grown and gangly flowering ACDC clones in my 12/12 lit grow tent. 7 weeks since I changed the lighting schedule. ACDC strain is expected to be ready in 7 - 9 weeks of flowering. MANY not very big buds, this I presume because.
1. I let them veg too big before putting the lights to flowering schedule, so they've somewhat outgrown the available space and lighting.
2. Not aggressive, pre-emptive enough about training and defoliating in both veg and bloom stages.
At this point, there are many clear sparkly trichomes, and a few that my inexperienced eye sees as cloudy. I think I saw a couple turning amber on one bud, but all the rest I examined have no amber trichomes yet.
Meanwhile, my next crop (Gen 2), cloned also 7 weeks ago from the first ones right before I switched the lights, is really looking like they need to go into the tent (particularly because I'm trying to improve on my Gen 1 results) They are currently in my atrium with supplemental lighting to make sure they stay in veg now that the days are shorter. These are not being lit ideally for rapid growth there, which is OK by me, since there's nowhere to put them yet anyway. They're been topped, and range in height from 8" - 10".
All of what Ii've read here and elsewhere indicates that CBD content is not particularly affected by waiting for trichomes to mature to a certain point. So, I'm thinking, maybe pull 'Gen 1' and start drying it. And get Gen 2 into the tent with the '300W' LED's etc. Another factor is that I'm going to be turning the whole Gen 1 crop, buds and trim into RSO, so maybe waiting for my buds to become just a little more perfect is not going to improve my yield of CBD anyway. Priority should be to optimize Gen 2, by getting them into better lighting, and properly training them. (I have other questions about that, but that's another topic.)
So, in fewer words, given that this strain is supposed to produce about 19:1 CBD:THC, and I'm really only after the CBD. Am I likely to do any better by letting them go another week or two, than by harvesting them now? I will add a picture tomorrow. They're in the dark right now.
