Agentbuckwold3 Here's my notes on single cola grows:
SINGLE-COLA SOG: The cola is the best smoke!!!!!
♥ Sea of Green switches to flowering quickly, when plants have only been in vegetative state for two-three weeks.
♥ Use common sense and intuition: know the strain. When it is strong enough to switch to 12/12, do it. Maximize veg. growth to maximize cola height. In other words, don't switch too early!
♥ Don't cut anything that looks like it will stay close to the plant; trim lowest nodes. By trimming the side branches all growth is sent to the cola. This also improves the overall flow of air.
♥ Xlnt technique when space is limited. You fit more flowering plants into the space.
♥ Works better with indica varieties because of their short stature and single primary cola.
♥ Sativas can work, but they are typically too “leggy” for the SOG: Top sativa strains a few days before changing the light cycle to 12/12.
♥ You create a canopy of buds that makes the most out of your light.
♥ Earlier harvest; more harvests per year.
You ain't stealin; we're sharing!! That is what we outlaws do here in Sherwood forest. (I'm an outlaw: can't remember if you are or not.)
This is the size of my CFL grow box: 30" H x 18" W x 24"L. I'd say there's around 22" height above the tub. What I learned on my first grow in this box: I switched to flower too soon. They could have gotten taller if I had left them in veg for a little longer, who knows, another week...
So I don't want to do too much trimming in veg, because they won't be in veg for long, and I want them to pick up good steam during veg. I'd like to wait until maybe week 3 of flower to do the trim and defol below. And then let them buds do they thang!!!!!
So I've got 100% Indica (the BD) and hybrids that aren't going to lean towards the sativa-type growth. I'm gonna use my AN nutes with all the bloom boostin stuff, and see what I can do for my babies to make those colas PHUKN PHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We will both be learning on this first grow. I look forward to watching yours!! AK48 will be an ideal strain. Nirvana says "Using a Sea of Green set-up will produce yields of hard buds in the region of 400 - 500 gr/m2. " Of course, it will be smaller w/ single cola, but I bet we can grow nice fat ones.
So we won't be auto mechanics: we will be pond harvesters.

I just ordered a tent to fit my new one site bucket, so if you don't mind I will be stealing this idea for my small grow box I'm currently using. I've got some AK-48 photos I need to put to use. So at what point do you plan on trimming branches and lower growth? Like as they veg or after you make the switch?

Howdy alltatup, Do You know how to tell the 'boy' chromosomes from the 'girl' chromosomes? You pull down their genes!!!! LOL (sometimes I just crack myself up!)

It's a SOG on a smaller scale
Basically you grow lots of smaller plants focused on a single main cola, the idea being faster turn around since you veg a shorter period of time, if at all, and better utilization of space increases yield.
Basically 20 small plants will out yield a single plant in a shorter time
