Do you pay attention to internodal spacing in grow tents/rooms?

I'm at the tail end of a window sill grow and I decided to take a look at the internodal spacing which was about 2" for the entire plant.

From previous research, I have been led to believe that 2" is optimal for cannabis bud developement and stem strength to hold the buds up.

I have never paid attention to this in the grow room environment or tried to alter the internodal spacing (temp/light).

How much control do we really have?
    Does it effect yields?
Where on the priority list would it fall?
What do others do -if anything? or nothing in my case.

Weed Pharma you just hit one of my nails on the head: wondering the same thing. What do you mean by 2"? Between bud sites?
Last grow I had more space between buds-the God bud had a lot of space between- much plain stick. Grow before that I had to check for bud rot -buds were very close together especially at the top shelf.
Is it a light and defol issue and or coupled with strain characteristics. (I think so). Thanks for starting this thread Im subbed

Hey thanks for posting this!! I've also been working seeing something along the lines of this, it would help with floweringinitiatives. TIKA I'm subbed also hope to hear more!

Phew!!! here I thought I really messed up a few plants, but apparently it's a little more common , would love to hear what folks have to say.
I feel as tho mine happened with each small light raise that I did for a diff strain that was getting light burn and was wondering like Tika if maybe defol played a part.
          Excitedly subbed hahaha

Tika, 2" for the spacing between the sets of leaves along the stem, but might also include the spacing between each bud site on branches.

We seem to pay close attention on the first node and adjust light to keep it low-not allowing a stretch, but should it stop there?

I've been able to change the space between noids just by changing the lights hight or intensity as it were. My 2$

While light intensity has a lot to do with internodal spacing, light quality does as well. So, not enough light will sometimes make a plant spindly, small leaves, long stems, etc. But in most of our tents and rooms that isn't a big problem. The make up of the spectrum can effect how the plants grows. Too much red(660nm) and short nights can shorten both stems and leaves. Long nights, or the addition of longer wavelengths like far-red(730nm) will cause plants to stretch, as we have all seen when we switch to 12/12.
Plant genetics play a big role of course, but two clones from the same plant can look different in different environments. Light, temperature and fertility all have an effect.
As far as what is optimal... I too would love to know. It's one thing to control how a plant grows, but another to know what the goal is.
A question I have is, If the nodes are far apart, does that mean that the bud will be airy as well? If the nodes are close, will they be tighter inside the bud as well making for a denser bud?
Any thoughts on that one? Anyone notice any correlation with your past grows?

Ive been curious about this as well. But I dont have much to compare with myself. My first four girls were by crop king (dark angel, ww) and all had an inch or less between nodes. So that issue though with two strains could be a genetics thing with cks.

To save some money this summer Ive had all my veggers on the deck and two autos. 2 Strawberry cheesecake, 2 green doctor, a big angel auto and an afghan kush ryder auto. All the plants on the deck have spaces as much as four inches between nodes and are out of control tall lol but they also spend another 8 hours under t5's or 300w led depending stages and needs.
So is it my lighting? Or genetics? Maybe some of both?

So I am green as hell on my first grow with no experience except for my 2 lady's. But I have kept a close eye on my plants twice a day. I am going to mesure the spacing after lights on but I know my short plant strawberry Kush has very tight spacing and my Blueberry a tall plant has spacing about 2 inches. So I feel that it might have alot to do with strain also.

Of corse the strain does make a diff, but with that in mind the light hight diff.will make a plant strech or not it depends on distance from light and the intensity of same!
