    Summertime collection

Hi all! I'm super excited about being able to grow a number of sungrown organic plants this year. Mostly all are autos, except for 3 special very high CBD varieties I recently obtained from Seedsman. I've staggered the starts, so hopefully I'll have nice staggered harvests! 😊 The list is one plant each of Northern Lights, Critical Jack, Jock Horror, Swiss Cheese, Blue Mystic, White Widow, Lemon OG Haze. Then the CBDs...Green Doctor, Nightingale, and Candida. I'm growing in mostly 7 gallon smartpots, and using my homemade supersoil (lots of worm castings!). It's going to be a very interesting summer this year! 🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿🌿

Hi Rockman, I look forward to the grow. Autos outdoors is still something I've got a lot to learn about

Go for BTB! 🌿 🌞 And maybe you choose to do the same strain at the same time inside, then have a taste-off after the harvest of both. 🐸

The collection is expanding a bit, with plants at various stages. The oldest 2, Northern Lights and Critical Jack, are already showing some fine looking bud development. It's interesting for me to see how differently these autos are developing outside under sun and weather conditions...quite a change from indoor with CFLS! Looks like I'll be harvesting from mid-July right through to September. I've got plans for making lots of oil extractions, including some that preserve the acid cannabinoids and terpenes by extracting at a lower temp.

      Looking good Rockman.
Funny how an outdoor grow just seems to expand and expand
My friend's "monkey cage" outdoor grow is the same. he's up to 21 plants now.

Are you training them or just letting them go "au naturel"?

Thanks BTB and Tika! We all love being under the summer sunshine! 🌞 I had quite a few extra seeds, given that my indoor grows are one plant at a time, so I got a bit carried away with this outdoor fun! 😊 🌱 🌱 🌱 As far as training, I was originally intending to keep them low and wide, except they naturally seemed to favor a much greater node spacing than indoors, so at this point I'm simply topping at about the 3rd or 4th node, removing excess inner leaves (which mostly I eat), and seeing how the plants behave, without too much interference. Have to keep an eye out for powdery mildew, which tends to develop quickly with too much humidity. Thanks for stopping by! 🌸

First week of July, and the collection is growing stronger. It's quite fun to have all these various strains at various stages of development! 😊 The main issue I'm facing now is keeping powdery mildew under control. Outside, the spores for mildew are all around, so as soon as I see a spot or two on leaves, I use a spray treatment with GreenCure, which is a safe organic potassium bicarbonate product effective as a fungicide. I also have large glass panels that I can use to cover over the growing area to prevent rain or nightly dew from unnecessarily wetting the leaves. 🌿 Buds on the older plants are filling in super well, and yes, the aromas from these are getting more powerful daily under the beneficial sunlight!. 🐽 Jock Horror gives out quite the smell!

Great Ganja! πŸ‘ The 3 very high CBD strains (Green Doctor, Nightingale, and Candida) are really the ones I'm hoping will produce big time. As of now though, Candida has been super slow to develop, and is only about a third the size of her sisters, who all started together. And since they are photos, unlike all the other autos, they will probably need much more time to grow. Hopefully good summer weather conditions will last through end of August. 🐸

Wow they really are going great , I'm checking on GreenCure right now. Have you got a favorite out of the group ?

Thanks DAAS69! I love them all, but since the first two started (NL and Critical Jack) are looking so lovely as the buds expand and trichomes appear, they really have me smiling at this point! Also, I've been itching to grow the Jock Horror, so seeing that one doing so well is another joy. 😊

The two oldest are rapidly approaching harvest time. I've been constantly removing unnecessary leaves (which end up either eaten or added to smoothies), and keeping vigilant about the tendency for powdery to take hold. They've responded well with pretty thickening buds! 😊

Tika, great to hear from you! 😊 As I described in further postings, the relentless extreme humidity has been the biggest challenge so far, though the slightly early harvesting of NL and CJ has not turned out so bad. I made an oil extraction already that seems to be providing the cannabis benefits (medicinal and otherwise) that I am looking for. The sun and drier weather is supposed to make a reappearance soon, so I'm hoping all those remaining plants will have suitable conditions to thrive. Just love seeing such variety in strains, and having them at various stages!! πŸ‘ Hope you're well in your world! 🌻🌸

Ya know rockman even tho we don't have too much raging humidity- it is a constant issue here. I bought a unit at my beginnings and it sucked a lot of water out of my closet tent. Then I realized my electric bill would cost the same as the unit monthly! ...moved the tent , gave the new machine away , got bigger tent, , and still have high humidity at night when closed. I am just living with it and occasionally have bud rot and alwayyyyysss looking for it. The crud comes on fast! Outdoors I know it would be a big concern her. My point- I really have empathy for you. Some strains as I am sure you know are more resistant but at the same time getting the tight budformation you want the chance of rot increases.
All is pretty good here. Last night someone (s) stole one of my very old cacti and one cool plant ( forget the name of now) from my front yard plants which attract tourists & their cameras. They were selective in their choice...one dog alerted but I didn't listen. I hope they stabbed the wow out of themselves with the intense spines & get one or more joint infections. It's not the first time but I keep planting larger and heavier pots as I have been relieved of them too but usually at Christmas- that was the succulent stage. Anyway....growers of all kinds suffer many forms of infestations- human being the worst
Long blab there ....warmest regards to you and your plants.

Tika, how dare they! 😫 As you said, maybe karma will reward them with what they deserve! 😏 I've been super quiet informing any acquaintances about my home growing...and being out in a relatively secluded country setting has helped ease any fears of human confiscation of my precious girls. 🌿 Along with constant bud rot surveillance, I'm also checking on the various bugs and critters which have a fondness for the sacred species (unsurprisingly!) πŸπŸ›πŸœπŸ²

Thanks Garcon, much appreciated hearing back from you! I do love having so many different varieties going at once, and the staggered starts! Especially since the first two just couldn't take the extremely humid weather conditions in the last three days, and started showing some bud rot...so I've harvested them a wee bit early. Now that I have others at a younger stage, I am hopeful for drier conditions when they are budding. 😊

Thanks Ganja! I'm learning a lot about outside growing here in Massachusetts...like extended humid weather which has forced me to harvest the 2 older girls due to signs of bud rot. Still have many more plants for later when the weather cooperates! 🌞

We got some bud rot on outdoor stuff last year, even here in SoCal mold/mould is an issue.

Hey Rockman , Those buds are really getting thick and are very pretty. Lots of variables growing outdoors but if all goes well you really can't beat the sun in my book. I have always grown outdoors and will continue to because I love the Sun. The plant I'm growing now is my first indoors, she's about to be harvested any day and she was alot of fun to grow and I'm expecting a decent harvest but I just like growing outdoors. Maybe it's the suspense of trying to keep from getting caught ,not really ,but I like outdoors. Great Job Rockman

Thanks DAAS69! I'm thrilled to have sungrown cannabis this year...much more to my liking than growing under lights, though that was a great experience. Yes, outdoors is great, but it has some issues I now am facing...especially the bud rot from extremely humid weather day after day here in Mass. Nevertheless, the chance to taste cannabis grown naturally under our beautiful sun is well worth the challenges in my climate! πŸŒžπŸΈπŸ‘
