Is it safe to have your pots base submerged under around an inch of water?

I was wondering if it was safe to submerge the bottom of my pots in water, would they just suck up the water as they need it or would it harm the plant? just plain 6.4ph water

Root rot is possible, u should water till 20% run off to take away salts every feeding and let it drain out as much as possible u want to let the plant dry out between feedings, my two cents!

That awaken is called flood and drain. It is a great way to provide oxygen to the roots but you have to make sure you drain all the water from the tray. I sometimes water small pots submerging the whole pot being careful the soil doesn't float out of the pot and then let them drain. never let the soil in contact with the water for over half an hour
