Root rot in seedling

I think I have root rot in a seedling that was just put into my DWC 11 days ago.
I am trying AN ph perfect, but did not add Voodoo Juice as the schedule said. If I add it now will it stop the root rot?
Will changing the water and re- adding the nutes help?


I am pretty sure it is root rot as the roots are starting to have clumps in them and they smell badly. I would ra ther not sacrifice the plant, but will if I have to.

Definitely looks like root rot. Hydroguard is a great root rot preventer. I used it with no problems over 3 full grows. Just 2ml/gallon of water.

I'm on my fifth DWC grow and have learned a few important things to maintain;
1. Keep the reservoir well aerated. I use two 4 inch air stones with a dual outlet 127 gph pump in each six gallon tank.
2. Change the water at least every week. Top off the reservoir with cool pH'ed water between changes (feedings) as needed.
3. Keep the water temperature at 70 Deg. F or slightly less (some say that the temperature can bee as high as 75 Deg. F), but do not let it get below 62 Deg. F.
How much distance do you have between the bottom of the net pots and the water level (when filled up)? You should have 3 - 4 inches (75 - 100 mm) so that the air is available to the roots. You can also add 1 -2 Table spoons (45 - 90 ml) of Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) into the reservoir to help kill and control the root rot. Do not over do it.

Thanks guys. My local store is open tomorrow and I plan on going to get Hydroguard or Voodoo juice. I know they carry 1 if not both. DW2 I keep the water just touching the bottom of my net pots by about 5 mm so that my clay pellets can wick some water up, maybe I will lower the level a couple of inches.

Will I have to change my nute solution prior to using the Hydroguard/Voodoo Juice? Won't the roots just transfer the rot to a new reseroir? Or should I add the supplement to the existing water and just clean well at next water change (next Saturday)?
 
I would definitely get some clean solution with the root rot preventer, whichever you choose. You may even want to change it more frequently until the rot is gone.

Also, take a few moments to calculate whether this is worth it or not. The plant is probably very young and it may not be worth the hassle. Restarting may be your best option... the plant may never fully recover, which means slower growth and consequently less yields. It may do just fine too.

Thanks for the info. I am going to try the solutions to see if it does anything at ll, see what my local store recommends (maybe sensizym). I have also planted a back up in case of failure (White Widow to replace a Sweettooth). I will let you know. Thanks for posting.

Do you have a water pump with distribution line(s) to the plants? This 'trickle' irrigation will keep the roots moist, promote growth, and allow you to keep an air gap for oxygen absorption.
 
No. I have 50L dwc with an air pump for circ. Air pump is for a 50 Gal reservoir so there is lots of air. I forgot to turn on the air valves when I initially introduced the youngun's. Also, having heat and humidity issues due to winter time home heating. I think these things contributed to the problem. Water may have gotten too warm.
