Outdoor defoliation?

Looking for opinions of defoliation during weeks 1-3 of flowering

Have you got any photos? I reckon it depends on the plant structure and if it in a big open space or in a more confined space.

Coming from an indoor grower, defoliation happens to open a plant up so light and air can get to the lower buds.
I've always seen a benefit of growing outdoors being you don't need to defoliate unless the plant structure is too compact.
