Opinions on autos for first time grow

I have been researching and got my entire setup ready with some auto seeds, coco/perlite mix, 400w hps and mh etc.

i was originally inspired by the GWE auto grow journal.

I read on on another forum though, that autos are not advised for beginner growers and definitely not first time growers because everything has to go perfect to get a decent yield.

This is not info I wanted to see right now. So I'm coming to this forum hoping to get some input.

Mare autos really advised against for new growers? I was originally turned on to them because of the short harvest time. I don't want to wait 4 or 5 months to harvest.

please let me know what you all think :) thank you!

Autos are very easy to grow , all MJ is easy to grow. Jump right in with your autos and you will see. Welcome to GWE mh231

I think autos are perfect for first time growers. There are no light schedule changes to worry about so all you gotta do is plant, feed, and love. Plant training is not advisable since they finish so quickly; leave that more advanced stuff to later grows. Treat this grow as an experience builder.

Autos are excellent choice for first time grower. Just start at the beginning and germinate those little aliens. Set yourself up low as in, an ounce of dried bud is great for the first time. Any more is fabulous.
But pay attention to them. And don't do what newbies like to do and DROWN their poor little seedlings.
Follow a plan - yours
Expect them to begin to flower around 20 days.

I have a 400w hps and mh bulb, the guide recommends that I just use hps the whole grow.

Do do you guys think that I would have any burning issues if I started the light at the recommended 3ft above?

Best way to check light is start where you think it should be.. put hand palm facing up right above the plant if your hand can take it more then likely so can the plant.. but I thought it was 18 inches not 3 feet
i also believe it's better to start in hps if you want quick flowering.. mh will get you better veg growth though so really growers preference on that one

I didn't everything as per the guide. In the guide I didn't read anything about watering the rapid rooters just to "keep them moist"

i justvleft them as is out of the package, they were moist. Should I have soaked them, or watered them when I watered the new coco?

also started the light at 50% through the ballast and set it at 19'' away from the rooter.

My first grow of autos is just days away from harvest and are looking really good OG Kush and Big Bud.
What is really nice about autos is I've already started round two Lemon Haze and Caramelicious so I can save two to three weeks per grow cycle because the light schedule doesn't change.
It sounds like you have done your research since you landed here and the only way to learn more is to pop some seeds.
You might have got some free beans with your order you might try a test run with some of those before you germ your favorites.
Good Luck
